When you say invoice, do you mean true invoice as in what edmunds and such reports or do you mean dealer's invoice which includes the holdback (1% of base MSRP).

 

I paid 1k over invoice. Dealer produced the same invoice price that I got through Edmunds.

 

Invoice discussion usually does not factor holdback. Holdback is sometimes contingent on other dealership goals such as number of units moved. In certain scenarios you can walk into a perfect storm at the end of month when the dealer has to move several cars to get their holdback. At that pont they are willing to sell a couple of vehicles for no profit to make sure they meet the monthly goal.
