ds mode and learning algorithm?

I recently test drove the 07 G35X, and I was pleasantly surprised with the addition of the DS mode. I currently have an 05 coupe auto and didn't always like the delay caused by the driver adaptive algorithm when stomping on the gas after driving normal. Does anybody know when the auto is put in DS mode whether the driver adaptive alogorithm is bypassed?

My G rarely upshifts in DS mode unless it has to. When it does upshift, it's usually not enough gears or wayyyy too late. To get around this, I use my paddle shifters in D when I would like to have more of a say in the shifting, and manual mode when I want to go all out.

EDIT: The only time I use DS is for straight line takeoffs, and I usually upshift via the paddles when I'm done stomping on my accelerator.

I just use DS for passing, driving like a fool, etc. If you have to throw on the brakes (i.e. driving like a fool on the highway) it would rather chill at 6000 RPM instead of upshift (if you were about to punch it and then reconsidered, this happens a lot), so I have to slide it between D and DS every so often to get it right. Alternatively I just shift manually, but if I'm changing lanes in iffy conditions at 6 in the morning, I'd rather focus on the lanechange and leave the transmission shifts to the tranny logic.

Thanks for the replies. I guess the experience I'm after is when I want to start spirited driving, the transmission is ready to go. Meaning I would like the tranny to downshift immediately without the tranny thinking about how I was driving the last 10 miles (adaptive algorithm). In my auto coupe, the tranny would do fine after it had already learned that I was driving spirited. But this initial delay in normal D sometimes ruins the experience. So I'm hoping the DS mode will fill that void. I occasionally use the manual gate shifter but I feel it only works good when your accelerating hard to redline but not in between.

Does anybody know if the DS mode acts similarily to other sport modes offered on say BMW and Audi?
