Update missing titles in Musicbox

Ran across this in another forum on how to update missing titles in the Musicbox. It is a PC application that accesses CDDB. You copy the database info to the compactflash.

missing titles

I copied some CDs onto the HDD and the title were missing. I tried to follow the instructions on how to copy the missing titles from HDD to CF card so that I can use the PC to search for missing titles. (instructions found at www.infiniti.com/music-update/index.html).

But the menu under "music box system info">"search missing title" is grayed out? I cannot access the "search missing title" menu.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,
Andy

Most likely the CD's you copied do not have the code that us used by gracenote, what happens is when you try to updated the song information it sends the code to the CF card where it's updated online and put the CF card. if you have no code to send to the CF card, it can't get your song information

Were they burned CD's?

I'm pretty sure Gracenote determines the album and track titles by time codes or time stamps from the original CD. I'm guessing the songs you have on your MB were compiled downloads? If that is the case, you may have to manually input those in your MB.

New CD

I burned it from the original CD. The CD is a new release from a pretty well known singer.

I did try to manully input the album name and title. Maybe that erased the gracenote info.

Try erasing it, re-rip to mb, then do the procedure for missing titles.

I have to do this quick. My Cat Stevens Greatest Hits cd came up as a Weird Al Yankovic cd. Daughtry cd has the first song only. All the other songs say "Unknown Artist" and no song title. Also, I haven't been able to have the info come from the cd as opposed to Gracenote. Can't believe that current cd's do not have that info.

Just got back from a road trip to Myrtle Beach and was ecstatic about having the MB. Sometimes XM doesn't play what you want to hear and having dozens of your favorite cd's available at the touch of a button is FANTASTIC!

This is what I don't get:

I just burned my Ludacris' Release Therapy CD, along with a few others that also didn't get picked up by Gracenote. What happens is that the computer will time-stamp all the tracks! The time stamp becomes the track names, so it thinks that none of the songs on the HD have missing titles.
