New G or '06 M35?

I know I'm going to get a somewhat biased answer, but I'm hoping ot get some good info about my decision. If I can get a used '06 M35x with low miles for about the same money as a new '07 G35x, whay, or why not should I get one over the other. I know that new is better than used, but I get the remainder of the orignal warrantee with the M. I'm wondering about handling, etc and how the two cars match up.

Thanks

The G35 is considerably quicker than the M35 and handles much better too. The M35 has a lot more interior room. The difference in luxury is not as great at it used to be between the G and the M, but the M does still feel "richer" inside.

They're different cars. If you want a comfortable 5-seat luxury Sedan with a sporting feel, get the M. If you want a quick, nimble, sport Sedan that can seat 5 on occassion, then get the G.

In December, I was test-driving a new M45 and the G35 trying to decide between them. For me, the driving dynamics of the G35 won out. The lack of a 6-speed in the M was a big issue for me. And, even with the V8, the M was a noticably slower car. Otherwise, I really liked the M.

Hmmm, tough decision.......although I think the main deciding factor for me would be interior/trunk space. If I required a car with a little more interior room and some bigger cargo space, I would opt for the M. The M's interior is gorgeous! I've never driven an M, but from what I have heard/read, the M offers a very sporty drive as well. If I didn't require the extra space, I would go for the G. Either way, you'll be driving a fantastic car. Good luck with the decision.

I was thinking about this myself. There's a left over M in ATL that's about the same price as a loaded G that I would buy if we sell our '05. I think the difference in the new 3.5L engine would sway me over to the G vs. the M. The VVT on the exhaust side, dual throttle bodies, beefier block, etc... Not that there's anything wrong with the engine in our '05G, but the tweaks seem to be good ones from what I could tell in my test drive.

Why not look for a preowned M45.

if you want to pimp go w/ the M. I got a preowned M35 sport w/ 3000 miles if you're interested in that as well. The '07 G is very impressive as well so it depends if you also want the extra space

Between an M35 and a new G35 I would choose the G35.

Now it is a totally different story if it was between a M45 and G35, my choice would be M45 all the way, no contest .

I would get a g35 . I test drove all the infiniti line up and i can tell you that the m35/45 sucks for a luxury car. If you don't belive me try it and then drive a lexus or a mercs or bmw . the m35/45 is soooo heavy and the road noise is pretty loud for a luxury car. By the way the 45 resale value sucks because its a v8 so you might want to stay away from it. As for being bias, no i don't think i am bias because i like the g35 but because after comparing it to the M it is sad to say the g has everything the M does and its quieter than the M. Anyway, that just MO

Hm... the M consistently was chosen by Car&Driver, MotorTrend, R&T over the ones you mention. Anyway, if you value luxury over sportiness, I guess you wouldn't choose the M or the G for that matter.

I find the M interior to be a lot nicer than the G's.

Not exactly sure what you are basing your comments on, but they contradict everything that I have read.

Interesting your opinion is contrary to every review I've ever read comparing the M to other luxury marques.

To the OP, please disregard the above post. The M is an amazing vehicle, but I must say, that the only reason to buy the M35 now is for the space (and IMO, the M is still better looking than the G35 sedan). Once they drop the new VQ into the M35 (which they should have done for '07 model year), then it will be worth considering again.

I still like th M visually over the new G. If the M35 was a sport and fully loaded, I'd probably jump all over that.
My only regret long term would be not having Manual. Wish Infiniti would consider having MT in the M. I'm certainly swayed towards the G b/c of this factor.
decisions, decisions...good luck. either way I'm sure you'll be really happy with an infiniti purchase

Some things that I thought about when choosing between M35/45 and G35:

1) What am I using it for?
Commuting to work. I didn't have a need for all the extra space to drive around in traffic for 45 minutes each way and I already have an SUV. G35, 1 pt.

2) How long did I plan to keep it?
I replaced a 1986 Honda Accord DX. I run them into the ground (and keep going), so it's better for me to get the latest so in this case, all things being equal, the G should last a year longer. G35 1 pt.

3) Technology / Styling?
The G35 has the latest technology and body style right now. From the rumors, the M will be going through a face lift very soon making the 06M out dated quicker. G35 1 pt.

IMO, these 3 points were key to making the G the better option for me. Good luck with what ever you choose!

^ The G35 is new the M35 is used and has 280hp and probably has better gas mileage. G35 1 pt.

I love the M35 with the tech package though the speakers in the seat is hott.
