Anyone using washerfluid additives for ice buildup?
Anyone using washerfluid additives for ice buildup?
Just noticed them in the store today when I was in buying my wife an ice scraper. A couple of different additive products to add to your normal fluid reservoir that are supposed to reduce ice buildup, one actual washer fluid itself that had the additive already mixed in and a spray (think it was Prestone) that you spray on your windows the night before supposed to make the ice easier to take off in the morning.
Any comments on some of the fluid products? Bought some of the spray and will try it out tonight as we are supposed to get some sleet and freezing rain - just snow for now though.

I've never used any additives myself, but have heard that they work okay. I would try an additive long before I would use an ice scraper. I NEVER use an ice scraper on any of my windows. I find they put minor scratches on the glass......but then again I am **** like that.
LOL me too! Thats why I bought it and thought I would give it a go. After using Zaino's glass polisher last year, I figured I had to take better care of my windows this winter.

winters of scraping ice from the windshields and windows, I have never scratched one. Are you talking plastic scrapers or diamond impregnated ones
.When you leave the car outside, if you don't scrape it, do you let the car run for 20 minutes until it heats up and let the defroster do the work (which really isn't good for the car or the enviroment).

I use the brush/bristle end of a scraper as much as possible. The fluids that you add to the reservoir work and I have never seen them harm a paint job.
