Thumbs up

The 07G is an absolute blast to drive. I was a little concerned that the auto would be boring, given that I have always preferred manual transmissions, but I was wrong. The AWD system in the X is great, I feel very confident even on ice and snow. I love all the toys in this car especially the back up monitor and the blue tooth. I'm a bit disappointed with my seat heaters, but I wrote a letter to infiniti and got a call from them asking me to go in for a proper diagnosis so I'm hoping to have that resolved soon. Over all my G is the most fun car I've ever owned.

My G is in for the first service today and I have an 06 as a loaner. I don't miss the old G's interior at all. (I actually liked my 03 interior better than the 06's). The 07 interior is much more refined than the previous generation. The seats are more comfortable and the technology is someting that brings a smile to my face everyday.

I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

+1 I feel the exact same way

Not that that is bad, but what do you like and dislike?

Sure, be happy to...

Pros:

--Nice looking body work. Does not look like other cars on the road.

--Seems to be tightly put together, but I do have a strange squeek (sometimes) in the dash somewhere.

--Engine has good power.

--Transmission shifts quickly for an auto. (mine is an ATx)

--Nav system works well. First car I've ever had with nav.

--I really like the intelligent key.

Cons:

--Not enough head room for me. I'm 6'2" and my hair touches the liner in the morning. After a day at work and a little shrinkage, I fit much better.

--I'm one who has heated seats that simply do not provide any heat.

--Certain aspects of the interior are too cheap for my tastes. To be fair, I'm coming from an Audi A6 and it would be hard to trump Audi's interiors.

--Floor mats are a nuisance. Very cheap, but the worst thing is that they don't stay put.

--Voice commands on the nav system do not pick up. Several times I've had to pull over and punch it in manually.

--Engine has good power but is very wheezy sounding at high RPMs. Lots of induction howl that does not translate into power. Also, the throttle is a little snatchy off the line.

As I said, it is a very nice car that just comes up short on a few items....for me.

Wanted to try something new. Last few cars had been of German descent and I wanted to give the Japanese a look.

My last several cars have been German as well (BMW 325, Audi A4, Audi TT, VW Touareg) and it's highly unlikely I would ever go back...Too many rattles and small issues...Nothing major except the Touareg, but I want quaility without worry...That's why Lexus is a bit tempting as it seems the G has similar issues to the Germans at times...?

Quite literally, it came down to Infiniti and Lexus. Had to choose one and I went the slightly more economical route. The G35x is my company car and I thought I'd be kind to cash flow.

Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to try a Lexus in the future. Maybe the GS 350. Variety, spice of life, and all that.

I certainly don't want to ruffle any feathers here. I know that most of the board loves their '07 sedans. I really like this car, I just don't know if it will ever be a love affair?

Lexus products are mostly boring, that's the way they achieve reliability thru moderation in power, suspension, etc. They damp everything and take away the driving feel, like driving a sofa on wheels. I like having feedback from the car and the ability to stop and turn with some precision. The G35 seems to be a good compromise between performance and comfort. Can't speak to reliability but the warranty is very good.

I looked at the g before the 07's and didn't even give them a second glance. Then when I saw the 07's I started looking into them and purchased one immediately. It is a car that just catches your attention and keeps it. I have no issues , rattles or anything. Love the smooth power and crisp handling. All the tech options are a sweet bonus. I'm at 5906km and this will be a definite keeper for me.

I don't think you have anything to apologize for. I for one appreciate your honesty.

I had a 350 Z, but had to give it up for a back seat. I was between the G35, 3-series BMW and acura TL- I choose the acura because I loved the interior and the sound system and I figured 270 hp was enough even with front wheel drive (I'm trying to be a mature adult here!). I was wrong- I think it is a fine car, it is reliable and gets me where i want to go. I like it(probably less than you like your G, but I derive no passion from it. we will see what the 08 G coup does for me....
