Those who ordered their G35 07 cars...paid beforehand?

I'm in the market for the new G35 and have I guess an obvious question.

For those who spec'd out the package for their '07 G35 and are getting it built and delivered 3 months later etc. have you already negotiated the final price or just put down a deposit? How does it work?

If one is custom ordering, is one likely to have less bargaining w.r.t. price?

Thanks.

Price already negotiated, agreed upon, and papers have been signed.

My fully refundable deposit was $500 (usually $1000, but since I'm a returning customer, they gave me a break on it).

I could have negotiated and signed for $500 under MSRP, however I opted not to sign that since I felt the price could drop, if it didn't, well that's what I'd get it for... but now I'm in a position to negotiate because I used the 3 months time to see how the market played out, I'm glad I waited because it seems we're more toward $1000 over invoice ($2700 off MSRP) and I have an internet quote for $750 over invoice for an ordered car. So I plan on bargaining when it arrives. BTW I got my date Feb 7th. I put down $1000 which is refundable. Even though I've waited all this time, I can walk away from the car 2 seconds flat if they are not willing to deal, I don't mind waiting again if I can sign it for $3000 below MSRP.

I would say, if you can get a good price now, then sign. but if they aren't budging or, they are only giving you a few hundred off MSRP then you have no incentive to sign. Signing is a benefit for you, only if it's 100% in your best interests.

does the dealership have the 07 g35/x (Sedan)in stock? seems like most of the people on this forum had them build and shipped.

So, let me get this straight... even those who have agreed upon a price and signed all the papers already... you can still walk out at NO penalty / cost to you? I understand that I'd have to pay a $1000 deposit up front... but I'd get that back.

In essence couldn't I place an order but still shop around for the next three months and if the one I want pops up somewhere, I could cancel my order and go pick that one up... all at no penalty to me?

I never signed, but there is a binding agreement when I traded my car in. They cant modify the paperwork at all. I told him I wont sign until I see the car. It arrived today...with tan interior, im having him source me another one.

Pretty much the same thing here, negotiated, prepaid $1000 (non-refundable) waited 4 months for the car.

Something silly about a port strike on the west coast delaying cars...

I secured my order with a CC number that was not charged. While waiting for my exact car, I was able to check out the other cars they got in and was given "first refusal" on all the 6MTs that came through.

I ended up taking one that came in at the end of December from a last-minute dealer trade that had everything I had ordered plus a few extras. I was able to negotiate a bigger discount on that car than they had agreed to on the one I had on order.

Derp - I see you're from Austin... which dealer you get yours from? I think there is only one dealership up there??

those that ordered out of state, after puting down a deposit how do you go about paying off the rest?

do you send them a check when the car arrives? or do they let you finance even though youre out of state?

Yeah, I'm in Austin. I got mine from the local dealer, "Austin Infiniti". I've had other people tell me that the dealer in Dallas discounts more than they will here.

That's what I've heard too. I'm in Houston and they are barely budging from MSRP... looks like I'll be getting my car in D-Town. I might even get it from Lafayette or New Orleans (same distance as Dallas)... but I'm not sure how things work when purchasing out-of-state.
