This is not a normal tint question, but I hope someone can help us out. When we purchased our 2007 G35X, we also bought the window tint. In Colorado, we can tint 27% legally (we want to stay legal), but when we went to pick up the car, the windows looked very light. They said they tint "dark as legal", but that they tinted 35% because the windows come with an 8% tint from Infiniti. Has anyone ever heard of this???

We ended up having them take the tint off and they are refunding the money, but i just wanted to know if this was true.

 

Never heard of a "factory tint". It is true to state that all factory windows and windshields come with a light shade on them (mainly for UV purposes), but there is no such thing as "factory tint" (to the best of knowledge at least).

 

I call BS. For one, the manufacturer never puts tint on the window. As SPEEED said, there is a light tint in the glass for UV protection purposes but not ON the glass. And if they are claiming that it already has 8% tint, your windows would look practically black(the lower the percentage, the darker it is).

Sounds like they were either out of the 27% tint or they were trying to cut some cost difference(if there even is any).

Glad you spoke up and got your money back. Geez, some of these stealerships are ridiculous!

 

Scam. Factory "tint" isn't really tint as explained before, its just a UV coating/mixture which the G has. Just an FYI, the Chevy Im driving now has a rating of 73% light transmittance.

 

Factory glass does have a coating/mixture that does reflect UV rays. I think on most new cars now, it 5-10%...meaning it allows 90-95% of light to shine through. I know when I had my G tinted, they told me the same thing, that it will appear darker because of the coating/mixture from the factory.

 

Where did you get your new G? I haven't seen any other than mine around Denver - I went down to Colorado Springs to get mine - they happened to have the one I wanted.

 

Tint's don't add up; a 92% tint + a 35% tint does not equal a 27% tint. Nevermind that the windows aren't tinted at the factory. They have UV protection which does keep some light out, but it isn't "tint".

 

that is retarded.... an 8% tint... thats pitch black...

8% means only 8% of sunlight can go through... id shoot whoever said that to you personally..

 

i cant remember who...but someone posted a few days ago that he had 2% tint

 

wow 2 % wt cowmoo? i have 17 all around and 50 in the front and thats pretty dam dark

Douglas555 - We got our G at Littleton Infiniti... But we've had a loaner for over a week because the paint has all kinds of swirls in it. They tried to deliver it to us twice and we refused it so it's at a body shop getting some kind of clear coat treatment (what fun getting a black car!). If you take your car there for anything, I'll tell you that most of the employees are great (especially the service manager) and are willing to go out of their way to make you happy, except the General Manager!

We went down to Red Nolin in the Springs, but we couldn't get the price we wanted for our trade. Littleton Infiniti got the car we bought from Red Nolin though.

 

ur gonna think i have no clue what im talking about since this is like my first post on here and its a dead thread, but if a cop pulls u over with a tint meter or u go to the dmv, the uv protection factory tint will add to the tint vinyl u got installed , because it just measures the amount oflight on the outside compared to inside.
