both my brand new '08 (~ 300 miles), and another 07 that I have driven exhibit this noise. I agree it seems to be coming from underneath the car. as others have said, the more agressive shifting does not seem to have the noise - the noise is there in D, but does not seem to be there in DS mode - will also try manual mode.

Does this sound go away as the car gets older?

Is there any break-in period for the mufflers?

i have a 07 g35x 2nd gen sedan.. and yeah i know what sound your talking about.. i love it.. no clue what it is but i have an idea.. i think its either the intakes sucking in air.. either that or its the manifold sucking in the air and it makes that noise because the restricted due to the position of the throttle closing between shifts??

digging up an old thread as i was researching about the sound. I realize today that i have it too. Mostly between 1st and 2nd gear at around 4-5KRPM. Got a bit worried and went to an empty road and floor the car, and realize the sound was not there when the engine is at its max. I guess the sound is mostly there from mild acceleration only.

agreed....only when the windows are down. It has been around 50-60 degrees in MD the past few days. It was great!

I hear it too, now that I've searched and found this thread. I think its cool. Its the air intake working "wonders" on one of the best engines in the World....(according to Car & Driver). 07 G35X - Auto Ob Black, Premium package.

I'm no expert, but I think it's a function of the air intake. Maybe Infiniti personnel reading the forum could supply the description of the sound we hear??

I reckon it's the intake. i only noticed in after the Fujita was installed. It's like a 'whistle' I suppose, and when you get to a certain RPM it goes... I'll try to get a soundclip if I can...

I know mine is a 'different' car, but it is the easiest explanation. It could simply be that the butterfly 'whistle' is more pronounced with the cai, or the actual sucking of the air is much more pronounced. It certainly sounds lie it;s coming from that part of the car anyway.
