So I'm looking at all the neat stuff everyone's done so far. When actual parts come out, when does it just get too gaudy? Debadging, tinting, rims, body kits, custom paint (I've seen some horrid lime green ricers here in the Bay Area), and on and on...

I'm still waiting for the order to come in and will stay stock for probably 6-12 months but for me:
Kenstyle kit looks nice
Tires/Rims (19")
Springs
maybe debadge the red "S"
maybe some carbon fiber exhaust tips (not sure if this is possible or if you'd have to replace the entire system)...lol...maybe the fact that I'd only consider the tips is gaudy in its own right.

What's your limit to making external mods?

 

imo, less is more. springs and tires in that order for me.

 

One you missed that adds alot to the look but also cost alot is a big
brake kit.

 

I had this same problem when I was doing my NX.

It started with little things like an Exhaust and headers, intake, you know. Just enough to keep you satisfied.

Then it really hit me and I found myself screaming "more..." It went from a basic modded black NX to this:









No amount of power is enough it seems

My advice? jump in with both feet and embrace the waters or stay the heck out of the ocean!.

 

i thought i would be done modding after sold the civic and get this new G... but then i still want to do something to it like lowering spring, ken style kit, and etc...

It depends on who you are. If you are one of those people that can't leave well enough alone or just LOVE to mod, then they may be a stopping point only when you've run out of money. For me, I like to keep my cars clean. So a moderate drop (using eibachs) 18's rims and aftermarket shocks (if there are any) and I'm set. I tend to leave the brakes stock unless I absolutely hate them.

 

N50, it's a slippery slope.

I wanted the GT-R intercooler, but it wouldn't fit behind the stock bumper... So I decided to buy a bumper, but the bumper was not sold seperately, so I bought the entire kit. No 3" exhaust available, so I had one custom made, stock fuel tank in the way, pulled it out, put in a fuel cell.

Geez, once you get rolling it's perpetual speed downhill

 

I'm in the same boat. I figured getting a sedan over a coupe and the sport would stop me from modding. But after seeing the cars being dropped and on 20s on this forum...its so tempting!!!

 

You stop when you start having that itch for a new car.

 

You stop when you are broke , out of a job and got a divorce from your wife.

 

haha... but I would advise you not to debadge the red "S".... If anything keep the S and debadge the G35. Unless you have the red color G35s, then just leave it. Just my $0.02. Or 1/2 $0.01 Canadian.

 

You can't stop the mod bug you can only try to contain it and even that isn't enough because sooner or later it breaks out!

 

Ya, Big brakes I think are what would really set a car apart, That's the next mod after springs, 19's, and maybe the kenstyle kit.

 

Yeah, I'm sure. I always watch my money like a hawk and try not to over spend. It doesn't take much to over spend when you're modding cars and I've done it more than once.
