Quote: This may be WAY off your mark, but have you looked at Subaru? The interiors are now first-rate, and the turbo4 is in the 250hp/250lb.-ft. neighborhood, and if memory serves, most are available w/ a manual tranny.
I had thought about the legacy GT but my local dealer said theres a refreshed model coming in July and theres none available to test drive. Also, the interior is in my opinion a step down in quality for me.

With a few interior tweeks this would be a first rate car, forward thrust and handling are top notch in the legacy GT 5MT.

Hyper,
Looks like you and I have run through the same car cycle. I had the M3 - that I loved to drive, but it was in the shop ALL the time-replaced pretty much every computer module on the car, had a service tech dent the front fender by dropping a tool on it and then deny it, etc. Had an A6 - again loved the way the car drove, but reliability was poor and the dealership was emptying my bank account. I am very happy with my G. The minor mods I've performed have improved performance significantly, the reliability has been perfect. The only complaint I could have is the interior quality doesn't match the BMW or the Audi - but I don't expect it to considering the price difference.

Im not looking for a car to compete with my M3. Im not getting rid of it, its my baby and my garage queen. Shes never had any problems and Ive had her since new. Granted, she only has 48k on the clock since 97. The only thing Ive considered selling her for is to get into a new RS4. However with my loyalty to Audi failing, shes staying in the garage a while longer.

That being said, I appreciate all the comments being made here. I really feel the love from this community. Hopefully soon we can see about me being a contributer as an owner.

Thanks,
Alex

You wont really feel a "swell" of acceleration- the powerband is pretty flat in the VQ engine. So you get consistent acceleration throughout the range not alot of swell and not a lot of drop off.

HOLY COW!!

I was just reading a few threads on fuel economy, or lack thereof. If this is going to be my DD for commuting I dont think I can deal with barely hitting 20mpg. Hell, with my modified A4 I still get 30mpg on a highway drive. No way can I lose 10, thats rediculous. I average 19/20 in all city driving with it. Maybe I should keep my interest in Audi alive after all the said and done.

Quote: Right, this I get but heres the rub: both my A4 and the 9-3 are the only two in this segment that have folding rear seats and yet are the only two cars with perfect crash test ratings. Does that mean other companies cant make crash-worthy cages without a simple bar through the rear seats? Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me.

Oh also for S&G's, the TL doesnt have folding seats but the smaller(cheaper) TSX does. Should I now assume the TSX is safer because it doesnt need the solid rear seats to create a more solid cage?
The TSX doesn't have folding seats either.

Uh dude, sorry to burst your bubble, but we didn't buy TSX's because we like G's better...

What does that have to do with any facts? Obviously you bought the G because you liked it better. Im not comparing the G at ALL to the tsx. Im trying to do a mature comparison here. Dont be one of those pos(t)ers that feels they have to make someone feel stupid if they dont own the car yet. Ive joined every forum for the cars Im interested in. Ive read over 100 threads in the past 3 days about all of them. Im just doing research here. Dont be one of those that turns me off from the forum Ive started liking.

Easy there tiger, I'm not suggesting you're stupid. I'm suggesting your "burst your bubble" comment was mildly obnoxious, so reciprocated.

So far your questions have been reasonable, and it's smart of you to ask opinions of others. Just don't snipe at people because they happen to be wrong about a minor fact.

Understandable. My gripe is with people who come out of left field (without prior research) to say something someone says is invalid. It took me all of 10 seconds to skip through the acura.com website to see that the tsx has 60/40 split folding rear seats.

Where you came in with the fact that people bought G's over the tsx had nothing to do with the topic that safety was an issue and thats why the TL didnt have folding seats. Which then brought me to the fact safety cant be an issue if the smaller TSX has them.

Regardless, after reading about a slew of issues (who would have thunk) with the new TL-TypeS Im leaning more heavily towards the g35. My two minor issues with the G are pretty important though. The fact that the clutch pedal is annoyingly sprung with no feel, and the apparently poor gas mileage.

Lastly, now Im debating on whether I want the g35s or stick with the x because I already have a love for handling with awd.

Uh.... dunno if you're trying to say this, but you can't get the stick with the G35x.

Yes, the gas mileage does suck. But, on the positive side, I've had a lot of fun achieving my lousy gas mileage

Good luck with your choice!
