Default AWD behavior with VDC off?
Default AWD behavior with VDC off?
I'm just curious to know if anyone knows what the AWD system is programmed to do with the VDC off?.
ie: will it oversteer then throw power to the front wheels?, just let the rears spin to infiniti? (no pun intended) do the front wheels ever kick in? etc.
I was at a tight crescent today (in snow) and I needed to get the car around in a pinch, so I switched the VDC nanny off and I was able turn the car around as if it was only a rear drive, easily, and controlled. It didn't feel like the front wheels recieved any drive at all.
Hence the question. I've been pondering using the car from time to time with the VDC off because it is very easy to get used to and I am losing a bit of skill when I hop into my AWD Matrix (which has NO vdc... all skill baby, all skill
) as evidenced by my lacking in the "countersteer, countersteer, countersteer in slippery coniditions" department.
Just like to know what the G is thinking when the button is "off"

With it off I found it easy to whip a quick doughnut in the snow too. But when it was dry with VDC off If I push it around a corner till the back gets loose the front does still kick in and then just pulls you through the corner beutifully. I can see why the AWD's beat the RWD's at the track.
