First time in snow/ice

After 3 months of G35x ownership, I finally had the opportunity to drive through some slushy muck.

We never really got much snow, it was mostly freezing rain, sleet and rain. The roads went from snow covered to slush and finally to ice last night.

The G handled it all without complaint. The only time I got loose was when I was trying to break it loose. I'm coming from an Audi A6/quattro and the G did everything the quattro did.

Felt in complete control even when driving over a steady iced-up road.

I'm satisfied.

Got some good ice around here too. X performed admirably - again. Was able to easily back out of my parking spot which was snow/iced in as well as where the plow had come up behind me and pushed all the snow up in a mini bank. All season tires handled it just fine. Was easily able to navigate the back roads and the unplowed parking lots.

Nice to hear

Just a question, do any of you get a well, a slight burning smell (for lack of a better description) after engaging slippery conditions then parking it?.

I notice a slight smell when I drove home today with icy conditions (VDC was all over me) Is that normal?

Me too, and I especially smelled it yesterday after driving in the snow/ice.

I've only noticed it when the roads are slushy, not when they're dry.

Yeah, I get that too on my X. Slightly disconcerting, but I just shrug it off.

Glad to hear such good comments from a former Quattro owner.

I drove today for the first time in real snow/winter conditions(we got slammed with snow yesterday), I put a set of Nokian WR's for my winter driving and was very pleased with the results. The car was very sure footed through all the snow, slush and nastiness out there. It would break them free easily if you drove like a bonehead, yet if you drove reserved and with a little caution the car hummed right along as if there was no snow. The snow button is fantastic, locking in AWD for stops and low speeds meant I just went! I had to drive through several 1+ft snow drifts and not only did it go through them but it went completely straight.

The G35x gets two thumbs up for driving in winter conditions
