Alarm on 2007 G35?

I want to get an upgraded alarm for my new G (sport w/ nav + tech) which is scheduled to arrive at the end of March. I have had bad luck w/ my last 2 cars, and have had people back into my cars twice. The last time it happened (on my S2000), the girl (a 14 year-old w/ no drivers license taking her parents car out for a joy-ride) tried to get away. Luckly, I had an alram w/ vibration sensors, and I heard my alarm go off. I caught her in the act.

I was wondering if its possible to hook up an alarm (w/ vibration sensors) to the existing car's setup (i.e. that would still work w/ the intelligent key feature - meaning, would deactivate the alarm if you opened the dorr when the key was "sensed"). Does the the dealership offer anything?

It may be too soon for new 07 G owners to answer my question (as I don't know if any of you have installed an alarm on your cars), but maybe some of the previous gen owners could comment.

The dealer had one installed for their own use in their lot - and tried to sell it to me. I don't have much need for it, but it was called: KARR (?) and I think it had a programmable key fob that replaced the stock one.
Hopefully some more knowledgable people will chime in and answer your question in more detail.

When I get my car, I want to attempt to install a shock sensor.

I found this very helpful: http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=43

Thansk CarFreak - that's exactly what I was looking for. When is your car scheduled to arrive? I should be getting mine by end of March. Let me know if you install your shock sensor prior to then.

Dealer said the week of 2/16/07. I hope it arrives this weekend!

I will probably attempt the install around April when the weather gets warmer.

Alarm installation place - Sound Advice in Mission Viejo

My friend told me that he got his alarm from Sound Advice in Mission Viejo, CA. They are one of the few places that can do a Engine start for a Manual transmission G35. They work on G35's all the time. I think I am going to go there for my alarm. The cost will be around 600-700 i was told.

If you want a good alarm system,I would consider a Clifford alarm system! I have an AVANT GUARD 5..It has sensors all around my car.If you breathe on it it will chirp!!It has automatic start, climate conrol, anti car jacking system(if someone forces you out of your car and drive off, they wont get up the street without the car shutting off!!)It has a cut off switch etc. It has many more features too! I have an 04 coupe, got the alarm in 05 and I'm pleased with it.The only bad thing is its gonna cost an Arm,leg and a hip bone..

But can you add it to the stock system - i.e. the intelligent key feature. I don't want a high tech alarm that I would have to arm and diarm on its on manually. I want somehting that can be built to work w/ the current alarm and intelligent key feature (just a shocck sensor I guess).

You can add an aftermarket alarm to work off of the I-key remote and then you can add whatever sensors you want. Audiovox 9232 or Viper 330v http://www.viper.com/Products/Produc...?ProductID=111 are some options.

Will the alarm arm and disarm automatically (i.e. when the car senses the key in my pocket, and I push the button on the door handle, or would I have ot take the key out of my pocket and push the 'alarm' button to disarm the alarm first). Does that make sense (not sure if I'm explaining myself clearly)?

There is no seperate remote. The alarm works off the lock/unlock circuits on the car. So when you unlock with either the button on the handle or the remote, the alarm will disarm. Same setup as I install in the FX. So you can walk up and hit the door button, and the alarm will disarm.

Sure it will, the installer can set it up to work on the same line as yur car key.My alarm was installed around the stock system.I can put the aftermarket alarm in Valet mode and use the stock system when I leave it at the dealer or with a parking attendant etc..Good Luck! Protect yur investment.

I just called the service department at my dealership, and they said they currenlty don't provide an OEM alarm upgrade through any of their suppliers/shops for the 2007 model due to the complexity of the car (being all high-tech and all). They said that, to date, they haven't had any successful (i.e flawless) installs, and thus, do not offer it any longer, and won't until they find a system that works properly through and through.

Has anyone tried upgrading their OEM alarm system on their 07 G (w/ shock sensors - Viper 330V or Hornet 727t)?
