Navigation - How to scroll down??

I have still not been able to figure out how to scroll down on the Navigation system. Has anyone been able to figure this out yet?

My scenario, Go to points of interest, choose gas stations and a list pops up, in my particular case there are 25 gas stations and I can see 5 of 25. How do I see # 6 and beyond? it's like the up/down buttons that are in other parts of the system are missing and using the arrows, media wheel or steering controls all just take me back up to the top. I've tried pressing all around the touch screen to get it to go to the next page, but no luck. I tried it again when I was stopped and didn't see any up/down buttons appear.

Any help would be appreciated.

Only had my G a short time (one week today), but I know what you're talking about and I believe it's one of the "safety features" (also known as litigation avoidance features) that Infiniti built in to the Nav system.

Certain things on Nav and Music Box are disabled when the vehicle is in motion, and one of them seems to be the ability to scroll past one screen in the Nav lists. Stop the car, and after a second or so, you should be able to scroll through the entire list.

Apparently the good folks at Infiniti would prefer that while you're driving you watch the road rather than read through lists of local Italian restaurants deciding where to go for dinner...

I haven't tried it, but can you not use the down arrow on the steering wheel?

Unfortunatly No , steering controls, the media wheel when rotated and down arrow on the center of the media wheel all bring you back up to the top, you can only scroll up and down between the first 5 entries, the other 20 can't be reached to my knowledge.

CodingDane, I thought I tried it at a stop as well, when I was in my driveway parked for 1/2 hour messing with it I still didn't have it, I'll try it again at lunch and report back.

Mine definitely allows me to scroll down through the entire list, but not until you have reached a complete stop and it is clear on the screen when this happens.

Are you moving when you are trying this? If so then the answer is you can't until you stop.

I also noticed this a couple of weeks back. My wife and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go down, until we stopped the car. The car has to be stopped in order to scroll down. Kind of irritating. Infiniti should give you the benefit of the doubt here (in this case, it was my wife trying to scroll down.... maybe if they wired it to the same airbag sensor in the seat that detects if there is a passenger, it should allow all Nav functionality....).

This is probably the single annoying thing about the car - they went way too far shutting out various functions when moving. Some I understand, but others are overly instrusive.

Good idea on the airbag sensor... or use the passanger seatbelt sensor (if it has one).

But then I'd have to have an anvil ridding shotgun!

I was able to do the scrolling while the car was stopped, not sure how I missed that while I was in my driveway. I wonder if it's 100% speed sensitive, I might try throwing the car in Neutral to see if I get the up/down

I would not be surprised if Infiniti fixes this, by either adding a voice command or enabling the buttons in a firmware update at some point, I have to think that this was a mistake and should have never been disabled.

Does anyone know if there's a way to send feedback on issues to Infiniti?

Yes you can. I just tired it. As long as you are stopped of course the "Enter" button on the steering wheel will let you scroll up and down.

Zenrin is the company that provides the software and maps. Zenrin's web site has a page for posting data or routing complaints, but not specifically software complaints. Their web site has a page specifically for Infiniti that might be worth a try for complaints:

https://www.zenrin.com/contactus_i.asp

Infiniti also has a page for sending inquiries:

http://www.infiniti.com/iapps/contactus

Anyway, don't know how much it will help to complain in these pages.... maybe if enough of us complain, it will be noticed. There's also a number for Infiniti Consumer Affairs in the last URL above.

Well, I entered a request to allow "scroll down" in the web pages above. FYI, I got the following response from Zenrin:

"Unfortunately, you will have to put our vehicle to a complete stop in order to fully use the features of the system. That feature is a requirement per Nissan North America via the hardware company. We are the software company and we do not have any control on the hardware aspects of the system, however we will forward your suggestions to the hardware company."
