Picking up my car tomorrow -- quick question

Do I need to get a cashier's check for the dealership or is a personal check OK? I'm having a brain cramp on this and I don't feel like calling the dealership. I hate talking to people and my sales guy is off today.

They already have a $2,500 deposit and I'm putting another $3,500 down when I pick it up, so I should be able to just give them momo's a check, no?

I can't speak for every dealership, but I was required to bring the balance of my down payment as a certified check or bank draft on the day of delivery.

Wouldn't they have told me this if that is what I needed? I guess I should call over ther. Thanks for the info.

I paid with a personal check for the whole amount.. I even asked that they hold the check for a couple of days until I transfered funds from my other account.
They had no problem with this at all..

That's cool. That's what I'm hoping for. I'll just play dumb since they didn't say anything.

I paid the whole car with a personal check. It's up to the dealer. Either call or bring a bank check. The last thing you want to happen is for the dealer to hold off delivery because of a check issue.

Also, I forgot, I've been arrested for writing bad checks, but I'm not financing through Infiniti, so I doubt they know.

The business manager gave me a card with a check list of everthing I needed to have for delivery.

That would really suck, especially if you couldn't get to a bank in time to take delivery tomorrow.

Oh boy, a new ride...........

There's no reason why they wouldn't accept a personal check. I've written
checks for my last three cars without any questions from the stealership.
The only thing that was ever in question was when my wife bought her Vet
and wrote a check for the balance one of the salespeople asked how she
could afford to buy it cash........I just flamed the dude!

I put mine on Amex, so not sure about checks, but that's really a dealer thing, I would call them now to confirm since there's only a few hours left for banking.

Good for you! I can't stand it when people judge you. I've seen many a person who may be perceived as one thing and end up being something else. I too will probably be able to buy my next car straight up with cash. I'll have to get ready for a game of 20 questions on that day.

Personal check should be fine. I tend to pay big purchases with a certified check so there are no questions.

Why not get miles or points on your credit card, then pay it off??

I would say it depends on the amount. If it's only $3,500 you may be able to clear the deal with a personal check. I, on the other hand am about to pay in full and the dealer is asking for a cashier's check.

That's what I wanted to do, but they wouldn't allow it.
