If you drive it , you're going to get nicks and scratches... How much is a new one... is it easy to replace... Might just consider this a wear item and replace it every couple of years or when it gets real bad..

You'll be replacing it more than every couple years. Mines been 2-3 months and it needs to be replaced as you see by the pics on page 1. Either that or I just bought an AWD summer only car. I refuse to have a vehicle for one season only. It's obviously the material is just too soft. If it was made the same as the emblem on the front it would be fine.

Have to agree on the material issue. My Yukon has a similar chrome on (abs?) plastic. The chrome is still there after 5 years.

Does anyone know if this infinti's first attempt at chrome on plastic?

Just put Z-CS on my car this weekend and found a 2nd pit in my grill.

I rarely drive over 60mph, mostly 30-50 going back and forth to work. No interstate driving.

There's few if any trucks on the roads I take to work and I try and stay two or three car lengths behind other cars but my grill is still getting pitted.

This is kind of aggravating. I got the G35 Sedan because I like the way it looked but what's the point if it won't look good for long?

I haven't got a clue how bad my grill is going to look after I wash it, but I'm guessing it will look a bit like the shot gun blast that caveman666 posted

I think I need a little contrast on mine.

The color match might work, but if the base material can't support chrome, I might question it's ability to support paint.

Same, and I'm still under 4k miles. Went to dealership looking for touchup, but apparently there isn't any touchup for blue slate available as of yet and they had no idea about the chrome. I believe some other companies make a chrome touchup, but that seems cheesy -- true chrome may mar, but not chip off completely like it does on our grills -- they evidently just paint it on the plastic composite material rather than do a true dip with it.

Subscribed - I want to see what y'all come up with...

Personally, I still wouldn't let the grill stop me from getting the car.

same problem here

I'm only at 800 miles and I already am starting to have the same pitting on the grill. I like Unlimited Tuning's GTR grill for the coupe and was considering putting it on my old 2003 coupe. I've sent them an email asking if they would consider making one for the 2007 sedan. It would come in black, but you can paint it the same as the body. Here's the photo from their website...

It's such small issue, definitely not something that would have changed my mind on buying my 07 X.

I just bought some touchup paints from paintscratch.com in the paint pen form which is so much easier and better than the small brush in the OEM touch up paint.

Yeah... I would agree, if this is the biggest problem with the '07; then that's not bad.

You have to wonder what the deal is though....
Pre- '07 is chromed plastic as well, with no issues.

I wouldn't be surprized if they went with a different supplier this time.
(most of these type of items are outsourced)
