though i can't imagine u could do donuts or anything like that for fwd.
If that is what you want, get the X. Then you have the best of both worlds.

That's why you get the X. Best of both worlds. It's AWD, which is awesome in the snow, far better than FWD or RWD. But under normal driving conditions, with no wheel slippage, the X diverts 100% power to the rear wheels, essentially making it a RWD. In fact, someone posted here a while ago that some magazine found the AWD had a slightly better track time than the sport because it could take the corners faster.

I was originally looking at the Journey, but went with the X, and I'm so glad I did.

Type S wheels are the ugliest wheels i have ever seen come on any car. They look like cheaper Altima SE-R wheels. G35s wheels > Tl wheels (any spec)
FWD automatically disqualifies it from any comparisson with the G

Looks nice but its all crap cosmetics. The Quad exhast is just the same set up with 2 pipes on each side.

I'm not a fan of the Type-S. Looks riced imo.

Exactly. FWD certainly has its advantages in certain situations, but driver skill(translation:being more cautious) can make up for the difference. Besides, if traction is that much of a deciding factor, you might as well buy the G35X.

Both cars are really nice. I think the TL Type S looks muscular and aggressive, while the G35 has a less intimidating luxury cruiser look. Both are great cars for different customer needs.

I already have a small chip on my grille. Hey, what do you expect from chrome sticky? If the grille were real chrome, then it's a different story.

Simply put, the TL is getting old, even with the Type S. And it's FWD. I'm being biased. It's still a great car for its price. However, isn't the Type S at $39k starting (MSRP)? That's a fully-loaded G35!

I didnt even consider Acura... then again, I hope I am never forced to have to drive ANY Honda (w/ the exception of my brothers CBR 600RR, even though my new GSX-R600 is better).

Nice find. I love how everything's rated (for "Good"). How appropriate!

Cool Go with the G35S - You Will be Glad You Did!!

The G's grille was indeed flimsy and cheap, but I did not see any noticeable chips yet (might be totally new). But, the TL's sportiness blew me away. Now, because of this grille fiasco and the fact that the '07 G hasn't been crash-tested, I'm even more unsure of the decision I have to make in two months.
VtecVQ,

I know the difficult choice that you have because I have been there. Actually, I traded in my 2004 Acura TL for my 2007 G35S, and I must say that although the TL was a great car, I like the G35S even better.

When I bought the TL in 2004 the other car I was seriously considering was the 2004 G35. Although I loved the G even then, the quality of the interior simply did not match the Acura. That was the decision point for me at that time. Not this time - the 2007 TL was absolutely no match for the 2007 G35S on all points.

First of all, the TL Type-S is still FWD. Even though the HP rating is 286 with 256 ft/lbs of torque, the FWD configuration seems to constrain the TL, even though it is supposed be a high-performance sport sedan. It simply does not have the low-end power (Infiniti calls it "the Swell") like the Infiniti. Then, there is the problem with 'torque steer', especially if you turn off the VSC. If you test drive the TL-Type S, drive it first, and then drive the G. You will immediately notice the diffference. The 306 HP and 268 ft/lbs of torque in the G is hard to beat, especially with the RWD configuration.

Secondly, having had a TL (I also currently have a 2004 MDX) I can honestly state that the Navigation System in the Infiniti is far superior - i.e. the Infiniti graphics are amazing. The TL only offers the plan view, and the graphics are just OK. The only other difference is that the Acura Navi has Zagat Reviews. Both have the Real-Time Traffic.

Also, the ELS 5.1 Surround System is amazing, but you can only hear the effect with DVD Audio disks. There is no simulated surround effect with CD's or XM Radio. Also, DVD-A discs are pretty hard to find, and there is a very limited selection if you do find them.

The one thing the TL has over the G35 is that there are essentially no options - i.e. it comes with pretty much everything. However, if you equip a G35S with the Premium and Navigiation Packages you will be pretty much on par with the equipment level of the TL Type-S. I believe the MSRP for both cars is approximately the same (within $200 of each other).

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Not to nitpick, but a fully loaded G35S with Premium/Navi/Tech/4-Wheel Active Steer is around $41,000.

G is a aggressive and wild car but TL is just a conservative 4 door sedan. 2007 TL a spec cost you about $40,000, and the acceleration from 0 to 60 is only 5.8(manual trans).
