Console Power Outlet - do switched outlets draw any power?
Console Power Outlet - do switched outlets draw any power?
I just realized tonight that the power outlet in the console is switched (i.e. it shuts off when the car shuts off). Does anyone have any experience on whether or not leaving something plugged in to a switched outlet draws any power, or am I completely safe leaving the charger plugged in? Ideally, I could leave the charger plugged in rather than having to unplug it every time I shut the car off.

max2k1,
Thanks for the response. That was my understanding of switched outlets, but not being an electrician I was not sure exactly how the power shutoff was accomplished and whether or not there might be some amount of power that would trickle through and end up draining the battery.
