Center armrest console to short on 6mt??

I sat in an 07 6 speed last night at the car show and noticed something right off the bat. In my 03.5 6spd, the center armrest was long enough that I could rest my arm on it and hold the shifter at the same time. In the 07 the armrest is shorter and your elbow falls on the hard plastic edge on the console. Has anyone noticed this?? It would drive me nuts if I couldn't lean on the center armrest. I wonder if any of the other center console lids could be retrofitted to fit the 6spd?

perhaps it's because i'm 6'6" (and therefore likely have longer than average arms), but i have no problem resting my arm on the armrest while holding the shift ****.

Yep, no problems here. If anything, having a taller armrest would like get in the way when shifting (6'4" w/ long arms).

I have an AT and have found that the center armrest is too short for me to rest my arm on. I'm not tall so that may be a factor. My previous car had a center armrest that slid forward which was nice - no such luck here.

Was at the dealer yesterday testing the interior of a G35 since I'm interested in the '08 G37 Coupe 6MT. Being "vertically challenged", with the seat forward enough to comfortably reach and depress the clutch, the armest is too far back to be useful. My elbow only catches the front lip of the armrest. Would be great if the armrest were to slide forward a couple of inches (my wife's Acura TL does).

Has anyone done an "armrest mod" or found aftermarket that brings the armrest forward?

Currently driving a 2000 BMW 328Ci 5sp, the hinged armrest is at just the right position and height for resting your arm and elbow...even while shifting.

That one was of my concerns also when choosing btw the auto and 6MT. After driving the 6MT, I found that I couldn't rest my arm on the armrest comfortably while resting my hand on the shift **** (I'm 5'7") but I quickly got used to it and I don't even think about it anymore. Doesn't bother me at all.
