It's in the manual - think depending on what schedule you're following it's 3,750 or 7k. I change mine every 3k anyway, oil is cheap compared to engines, and stop-and-go traffic is a Houston thing...

Just did my oil change at 3157mi. 30 min DIY job without the headache of a trip to the stealer. Not a bad idea to get the original oil with all the crap inside out of the engine as soon as possible.

All you need is a 10mm socket for removing the undertray cover bolts, a 14mm for the drain plug, 5.2qts of 5w30 of your synthetic oil of choice, a new oil filter and a oil drain box.

There are tons of choices for oils and filters(and just as many reasons as why one is better compared to another) but I went with tried and true Mobil 1 5w30 Full Syn and Mobil 1 oil filter (M108). Runs smoothe and quiet now that the original factory oil with all the junk in it is out.
I may try Castrol 0w30 if I can somehow get my hands on it here(no Autozone in Hawaii ) and the K&N oil filter on my next oil change to see if I can tell a difference.

6k kilometers or 6k miles in Canada

3750 miles = +/- 6000 kilometers

Have you (or anyone else) used a K&N oil filter before? If so, what were your impressions? Worth it or not? I have used their air filters several times with very good results (however they don't have one for the '07 yet), but never their oil filters.

I'm waiting until 6 months or 7,500 miles per the manual before taking it back to the stealership. Then I can get all the TSBs done in one go. This 3,750 is nonsense. Don't even get me started on an oil change at 1,200 miles. That is so 1986! In Europe the oil change is 10,000 miles. On some cars it is 12,500 miles. The US is always slow to adopt new technology in all aspects. I don't think anyone in the US recognizes that engines are better these days as is the general mineral oil used.

As I have stated in previous threads, I have beaten company cars to death with oil changes at 9,000 miles or 10,000 miles as required by the manufacturer in Europe and ran these puppies to 100,000 miles with no loss in performance. That includes driving on the M25 in rush hour which is recognized as the busiest road in Europe with stop and go guaranteed much of the time.

Maybe the record profits by oil companies has something to do with that

US laws/business rules/decision are all a result of one form of lobbying or the other !

I don't have a problem with doing an oil change at recommended intervals.

What I don't get is this folklore of the factory putting some crappy oil (or oil with some "junk" in it) on purpose ! Why would they want to do that ??
And please don't give me the bit about "metal shavings" in the oil -- today's engines are built to very precise tolerances - I would be surprised to find metal anything in the oil !

Before you blast the oil in your car, maybe you should a used oil analysis and see if it really has the so called crap....

sorry for the rant !

Must be awesome living in Hawaii -- I'll gladly trade all my area AutoZones for living there

Whoa. Get up on the wrong side of the bed today, did we? Not sure where this came from but I'll take your word for it that it was just a mindless rant.

Nobody said anything about crappy oil from the factory(heck, I don't even know what they put in there to make such a claim. Do you?) or a metal shavings conspiracy theory or delusion. Just saying that for my car that has 3000 miles, my oil was very black and dirty.
Now I'm no oil expert nor would I be so **** and inclined to have my oil analyzed by one. There are already a million and one threads in another million and one car/bike/boat/truck/tractor forums about it. And I don't need to be a genius to know that dirty oil with tiny little flecks in it can, and has come out of all my vehicles that I've purchased new that I've done oil changes on. My bikes had it, my cars had it. Totally normal. I personally would like to get that out as soon as possible.
Sure, build quality, engine tolerances, and what have you are much higher now, but last time I checked, they still made engines outta metal, right? And unless they run the brand new engine for thousands of miles before they drop it into my new car, that engine has brand new metal parts in it that are gonna have to wear in. Hence, little metal bits. I'm not going off the deep end claiming these little microscopic(and some not so microscopic) bits of metal are gonna throw my motor into a seizure and break my car. They do exist and thats totally normal.
Whether 'as soon as possible' to you is 1000 miles or 10,000 miles, an oil change can only do your car good, is all I was saying. Besides, regardless of metal bits, substandard factory oils and whatever other 'folklore' you refer to, changing the oil with fresh, new, clean oil can only be a good thing for your car. No need to bust my chops for determining when the right time is to do mine.

oh, and sorry for the rant.

No, I haven't tried the K&N yet moose but will try it on my next oil change. I don't think you can 'feel' any difference between oil filters but there are tests and claims of one filtering and cleaning the oil better than another.
I guess if you're a numbers and stats kinda guy, then the brand you choose will matter.
Personally, I think pretty much all of the newer filters from Fram/Mobil/K&N etc will do their jobs. It'll come down to preference and again, what stats you believe.

Don't take out dino juice too soon. You need non-synthetic oil in the engine for at least 3000k miles, so that the rings get seated, etc. If you feel the urge to change the oil sooner, put some non-synthetic oil back in.
