Cool, we have the same bike, same size. I love my Roubaix. Got about 2800 miles on it so far. Wish the Michigan riding season was longer! :-( My one slight regret is I didn't get the triple. The double is fine most of the time, but there have been a few times when I wanted a triple for some harsh hills.

On another note, I'm not sure I would have the guts to put my bike in the backseat. Would be too worried about doing damage. I wonder if it will fit in the trunk, I'll need to try that. Did you try it?

I have a bike carrier that clips on to the trunk. I'm a bit hesitant to use that though, don't want to mess up the paint. Anyone use one of these? I would LOVE if someone could come up with a decent alternative. An unobtrusive hitch, or roof rack. Anyone???

Move the passenger seat forward a bit, then put the bike in rear first from the right rear door, with the right pedal in the 12 o'clock position. The chainwheel will rest on the hump. There's room for the fork/handlebars to turn 90 deg to the (bicycle's) right, after which the passenger seat can be moved back.

This was all checked on a cycling friend's G35--I take delivery of my G35S 6MT next week (see New Members post). I plan to use generic rubber mats to protect the seat and the carpeting over the hump.

Of course if you want the bike out of sight this won't work.

When I had my Coupe, I could load the bike in the trunk using the fold down seats, all I had to do was remove the front wheel and the pedals. With my 2007 G35X, I opted to buy a Saris trunk mount bike rack. I use cotton towels under the feet to protect the paint. I have used this approach for several months with no deterioation of the paint. My bike is an Orbea Orca.

I like my Roubaix a lot too. "All day" comfort but still stiff and reasonably fast. (We're talking about bikes here, guys ) Put 1500 on it from late Sept to Christmas when the Northeast riding season ended. I got the triple, don't use it very often, but when I need it it sure is nice.

I share the concerns about putting a bike in back. But let me clarify, I didn't put it ON the back seat, it stands upright just in front of the rear seat. The weight is taken by the floor and the hump in the middle. If I do this regularly, I'll make some kind of protective mat for the hump and the seat. Previous posts in this thread addressed getting a bike in the trunk--have to remove both wheels, and it still seems iffy.

I have a Thule clip-on trunk rack with the big rubber cushions (like pipe insulation) I used on my Acura TSX for three seasons with no discernable damage to the paint. For the G35, I've already spoken to the clear bra installer, they can put protective patches on the trunk where the cusions go; they can also wrap the film over the trunk lip to protect it from the clips. If I do this I'll let you know how it worked.

I use my truck for all biking stuff, but the biking I do also requires driving up forestry roads too. But anyway, you can get roof racks for the car. There are many different options.

I use my wife's Lexus RX for all my bike transportation needs. The trunk of my new G looks like I could get one wheel in there..no bike. Besides..I would be too worried about nicking the finish on the bike trying to squeeze it into some small space.
Of course, I am 6'4 and as such have a big framed bike. Giant TCR C1 sized XL (think it equates to 59cm with the sloping tube.) Can't wait to get it off the trainer and out on the road. Come on spring weather!!

LOL, sounds like we may have the same bike rack too. Mine never damaged my Volvo, but still paranoid. I wonder if I could get a similar film to the clear bra anywhere to protect the trunk lip where the clips go. I wouldn't mind if it only lasted a few months, or wasn't as "good" as the clearbra. Just a bit of extra protection that would be easy to put on.

That must have been one hell of a ride. I won't ask your speed through that ....just making it was reward enough! Every year I watch the Tour and when I see that section ..I just marvel that those guys are that strong.
Makes the 3-4 mile climbing portions of my 50 mile rides seem like kids work.

Coming back down was fun - we were actually faster than the cars in twisty sections
