I guess I'll be the first one to tell you...

That's just dumb to drive with the cruise control in the rain.

Wha???? Why?

I have driven with cruise control in the rain countless times and have NEVER had any problems.
Of course it there is standing water on the road, that is a different story and a problem that transcends cruise control.
Is this what automotive technology is taking us to, the lowest common denominator.

Seriously, though. That's very unsafe. There have been many people killed doing that.

Not quite as unsafe as navi unlock, though.

When you dive in the rain you have potential to hydro-plane on standing water on the roadway. If you hit this when the car is in cruise, the cars balance can potentially be upset when the tire hydroplanes.....the tires speed up (like spinning on ice) and then re-grip on the pavement again. Very dangerous situation. Bravo to Infiniti for making it a safety feature.

The reason it is so unsafe is because the cruise relies on knowing the speed of your car by how fast the wheels are turning. When it's raining, your tires are not always in contact with the road because of the thin film of water. If you hit an area where your tires lose contact, your wheels will continue to turn at a constant speed, but your forward momentum will drop. If this schenario happens in a straight line and you are a fairly good driver, it's not a huge deal. If this happens while you are turning, you have yourself a problem.

Isn't that what all speed traction control and stability control do? Keep the car going in the direction the front wheels are pointed? Pretty soon there will be a sensing device for eating in the car. Open your Big Mac and the engine goes into limp mode. If manufactures want to be helpful, at least make the 'feature' so that it can be disabled.
This might be my last new car it this is the way all manufactures are headed.
"Just say NO to big brother!"

Keep in mind that the traction control uses the brakes to take care of situations. If the tires are not in contact with pavement because of a hydroplane, how will they stop you?

What.. You are depending on traction and stability control to save your sorry butt when you are busy eating. If people would just fricken drive instead of doing everything else.. then there wouldn't be a need for all these nannies and junk. Cruise control and rain dont mix well.. best to be one with the car just in case you hydro-plane or something

You have the Tech package and the ICC you must turn the ICC off and just use the regular cruise. The ICC won't work when the wipers are on. Give it a try.

I think it works when the wipers are on low, and it locks out when the wipers are on full blast. I've had it work and not work with the wipers on. I'm not sure if it's based on some sort of sensing by the ICC unit it's self. in bad weather it is unable to see cars ahead.

It's not that unsafe to use ICC in rain, downpour or heavy snow is dangerous.

And to the one who said many people die from this... an equal amount have died from bursting a blood vessels in their brain while straining to take crap on the bowl.

It's by design. The car knows not allow you to engage the cruise control in rainy conditions for safety reasons.
