most of the time 290 sometimes 310..

does it really hold 20 gallons? I know the website says it but my car seems to run low around 15 gallons.. it seems like it holds more like 16 gallons..

More important to me is how many miles per tank on average are you guys getting? Obviously depends on how much you get into the fun pedal but what are you guys seeing?

I just filled up this morning and it read 536 KMs. But like Colin stated, this number will vary quite a bit depending on how you were driving prior to the fill up.

You are all going to hate me, but I have been able to get it to 468 miles. My previous journey was all highway though and I averaged 25.9 MPG for the entire tank.

That's awesome! Do you have any idea what your average speed was while getting that high MPG?

Yes. The journey was from Seattle to Spokane and back. 293 miles each way across the Cascade mountains. Not a flat drive for sure. For the most part, I kept at 60 mph but often increased to 70 mph to get past trucks safely. I was in Intelligent Cruise Control mode most of the time so I could concentrate more on the XM Comedy Channel .

But on my 12 mile stop and go commute to work with mild inclines, I am getting around 18.5 MPG at the moment. If I am really careful I can get it above 20 MPG but that ain't easy. It's a heavy car with a 3.5 L engine, stop and go is going to kill the MPG for sure.

I understand all the frustrations here, but in reality, this 3.5 L is no worse than other in city driving. I think the issue has really surfaced because the car now has a gauge telling you the MPG and we have hit $3 gallons here. If gas was the same price as Europe at +$7 then I would not be driving this car for sure.

I sometimes think that 2.5 L would have been enough for me.

When the hazard light turns on to let you know you're running low of fuel, how many more gallons are left before the tank is truly empty?

It would appear to be 2.5 to 3 gallons. Which sounds about right since the goal is to give the driver at least 30 miles to get to a gas station. I've put 19.5 gallons in and I will not scare myself again doing that. When they say it is 20 gallons, it looks like it is.

I filled up today, and I believe it said 546km.
Of course I'm still breaking in so who knows what it'll be like in a few more weeks
