just to throw it out there, have you tried leaving your cellphone at home while driving? I know that some phones (especially nextel for some reason) causes a lot of static on speakers.

Yeah. It occurs for the dealer's service guys when I'm at work (with my cell phone)

G-Whizzer: yeah. my old lexus dealer was open on sat for service. Sucks that none of the local infiniti dealers do sat service.

Wow. Glad you got it fixed...
Was it related to the accident?

dunno.. at first the service guys wanted to blame the accident since the amp is in the rear and maybe it got damaged. but when replacing the amp didn't fix it, they figured it probably wasn't the accident. Nissan's tech line said this was reported on a handful of cars so it might be just a glitch in the audio unit.

How hard is it to blow a tweeter just from having the stereo up too high? I have some tracks where I get static and some where I don't. Interestingly, I can fade all the sound to the right side and still hear static from the left tweeter at the exact points and with the exact same notes at which I hear the static with the fade/balance at zero. I think the static is from the right side too. I guess there's no law that says both tweeters shouldn't blow at the same time if they're getting the same music. I guess they probably should, actually. If any of you know the song, particularly annoying is the sound of Coldplay's Death and All His Friends when Chris Martin says "J!" and Johnny Buckland comes in with the guitar. (I guess he's saying, "J!") Annoying as heck. Some folks might say Coldplay is annoying in general.
