Cruise Control issue

Over the weekend, I ended up traveling for a about 40 miles on the freeway. As such, I used the cruise control for the first time (got the car last week.)
My car is w/o the Tech package so no ICC.
Cruise was set at roughly 65 mph. Everything was normal until I hit a spot where I was traveling down a slight downhill grade ..actual length of the roadway was about 1/4 of a mile. The cruise control started 'bucking' meaning that it was on and off the gas repeatledly during the downhill section. Felt like it was trying to increase by 1 mph similar to when you use the 'Acc' switch on the wheel controls to increase your cruising speed. This was not a mild ..just barely hitting the gas feeling..but was enough that my wife in the passengers seat could feel it too. Once I got back to a level part of the road, the cruise was back to normal.
I have since been able to get the car to do it again ..this time at 40 or so mph under similar situation...downhill grade.
Has anyone had this occur to them? If so, has anyone sought dealer help with it?
I have had a ton of cars (including my prior G) and never have had anything feel like this.
Thanks in advance.

I noticed this, also. Lucky for me, it is VERY flat in south Louisiana.

I had hoped that it would go away after learning on a few downhill descents, but not so far.

That's not a "cruise control" problem as much as an engine throttle problem. You'll notice the exact same effect if you're manually holding your speed and using very light throttle adjustments.

There seems to be a point somewhere between light throttle and no throttle where the ECU cuts fuel all-together and there's an abrupt onset of engine breaking. Then you have to dip into the throttle to speed back up. It's hard to hold a constant speed on rolling terrain without noticing it.

It's annoying.

oops.. that's "engine braking", not "breaking"

One is annoying, the other would be disastrous..heh.

I posted the same thing some time back. The system needs to be calibrated so that it uses smaller increments to adjust the throttle. I'm sure over time Infiniti will get enough feedback and make the programming changes... hopefully..

There is a guy on the FreshAlloy forum who owned an M35 (Mike_TX).

This particular cruise control "feature" drove him so nuts, he got infiniti to terminate his lease agreement.

Exactly.
Just too bad that Infiniti doesn't get this right the first time. This seems like such a simple thing ... just makes you wonder how they did not catch this in development.

I wouldn't go so far as to look to trade in my car.
It is an annoyance but not enough to change my opinion of how much I enjoy the car otherwise.
