my discovery while filling gas

So I have had my G now for 2 months (nearly, already!)

anyway, whenever I would fill gas, I would leave the tank cap hanging, and place it gently against the body of the G. painful to watch, anxious if it would rub agaist and scratch the paint.

then today i said, enough of this hanging business, i need to find a way to _mount_ it somewhere when the tank is filling, and then i find that the little gas tank door has a semi circular holder into which the threads of the gas tank cover fit and its meant to hold the cover while filling gas.

duh!

read the ******* manual.

LMAO...sounds like my boy. I took him to pick his G up which he has had for about two years. He's sitting in the passenger seat and says to me where can he sit his soda can because I had the center console cup holder filled up with other useless junk (change, keys, cell phone etc). So I tell him sit in the cupholder in the door and he looks at me like "huh". I explain to him there is a cupholder pocket in each side panel. He was like I didn't know that.

I kept saying to myself, with all the technology I can't beleive there is no garage door opener. I've had the car for 6 weeks and looked all around, until the other day it hit me, it's on the friggin' mirror! doh! there all along!

The funniest thing that happened with me and the gas cap though was when I first got the car and went to put gas in it the passenger door was locked. I stood there dumbfounded for 5 minutes until I realized I had to unlock the doors to unlock the gas door.

I owned a VW before, and it did same thing G does. All doors needed to be opened in order for a gas tank to open. So that was no problem for me.
