Remote Starter

With previous cars which had electronic security keys, it was necessary to supply an extra key for the remote car starter. The key was installed in the dash, allowing the car to start remotely.

Questions...

How does the G handle this?
I mean, how does the starter get around the G's security?

Is there a second keyfob that needs to be carried around?
(My friends XTerra uses the same original keyfob, he just pushes lock twice)

Is this a dealer installed accessory?
How much $$$?

I'm seeing more and more posts about people being stranded by the G not seeing the keyfob, and a remote starter is a great work-around for when it happens.
Also helps in the NE winters!

I'm not sure how they will install a starter into the G, but with any properly installed starter the car will shut off as soon as your touch the brakes so it will not be a work-around for the intelligent key problems.

I was quoted 699 from my dealership, and that does not include the cost of getting the extra key made to put in the dash.

We had a dealer installed remote starter put in our G, for $700. You will need to carry 2 fobs around with you, although the guy who installed our starter said that Compustar is working on a module that will allow you to only have to carry 1 fob with you.
