Back from Dealer about ticking while idling

They said they ran "diagnostic tests" and the ticking is "normal". Said it's a fuel injector.

I said that if it's normal, then why doesn't the '07 sedan loaner they gave me tick when it idles. Do they have any other '07' sedan's on the lot that tick when they idle? (they didn't).

Next question was, if it's a fuel injector, then replace the ticking injector.
Well, the mechanic was already gone home for the day, yada, yada, yada.....

So I'm supposed to call back tomorrow and talk with them about replacing the ticking injector. Not sure what's involved in doing this. Guy said they would have to order the "parts".

Also had them look at my seat heaters. My car was one of the 1st ones on the lot and falls into the service bulletin. Dealership claimed they adjusted the "computer" and it's working now.

Hmmm... Haven't tried it but if it's wired wrong, I'm not sure how adjusting the "computer" will help. Probably won't be able to tell until next winter now anyway.

I too have a loud ticking (injector sounding) at idle. It is so loud, I actually thought the engine was direct injection. Please keep me informed if you are able to get to the bottom of it. Obviously, less-than-optimum injectors can seriously degrade both performance and mileage.

Thanks, and good luck.

Guys, the question here is, "Does the 2007 have Direct Fuel Injectors?"

I honestly do not know for sure, but I know this sound. I've been shopping for over a year now and I was on the IS350 fence for most of that time.
The IS has this same sound and a lot of people are angry about it, but it IS normal.
It's the sound of the direct injectors tapping.

You hear this more when in a drive-thru or something, where you're close to a wall with the window open, or in the garage.

If the G had direct injectors, it is normal and nothing to worry about... even if we do hate the sound

Oh...
Well then, I'll just climb back under my rock then.

Ya know, if my car came in when it was supposed to, I'd walk into the garage and see if mine made the noise.... but, Noooooo.
No G for me yet.

don't get me wrong, mine isn't making the described noise (and hopefully yours won't either), i was just saying that there isn't direct injection in our cars. yea, that whole ordering thing would kill me, too...better you than me
