manually calculating mpg vs car
anyone compared manually calculating mpg vs the car doing it? I've tried the last couple of fill ups now, and I've been getting in the 16s according to the car, but in the 17s according to my calculator (and my head). Wondering if other people are noticing the same thing.

I tried it on my first three tanks. What I found was that the car was slightly lower in its reading of MPG vs. what I got when I did the 'old fashioned' way.
The difference however was very small...basically worked out to less than 1/2 of MPG for each of the three tanks.
After being comfortable with those results, I have since quit manually calculating and I am using the trip computer's info solely.

i'm seeing about 1/2mpg difference with the car computer being more worse. 16.7 vs 17.2 for example.
i've not yet broken 20 although i do almost all city (and city highway stop and go driving).
One of these days I'll have to go on a weekend trip to see how it does. I'm consistently in the 16-17mpg range.
