Thumbs up Wheel Paint Problem/kudos to dealer

Last week I cleaned and waxed the wheels on my then 3 week-old G35S. The left rear wheel had what looked like lots of small tar spots, which I noticed when I took delivery. When I gently used DuPont Tar and Bug remover, the paint started to come off! Closer examination of the other spots showed that they were actually numerous small pits in the paint, with the black undercoat showing through. Clearly there was a paint adhesion problem.

After asking me about what I used on the wheels, they examined the wheel and agreed it should be replaced. I expected they would order a new one, and I would have to wait and go back so they could move the tire and TPM to the new wheel, then re-balance and reset the TPMs. Instead, they went the extra mile and pulled a tire/wheel off a new Sport on the lot, installed it and reset the TPMs while I waited. Definitely a positive dealership experience.

BTW, The dealer is Infiniti of Nashua in New Hampshire.

Thanks for the positive info - always nice to see a good dealer experience.
We have them, but most people come here to vent on bad stuff...

Hopefully we won't see someone log on with a new sport from Infiniti of Nashua with chips in their wheel!!! LOL!

Wow, that's something I would expect from Lexus, not Infiniti.

Nice job, we had a similar problem with our '05 Altima SE-R. We noticed paint chips before we picked it up, and they said it was from the car wash (The 18"s on the SE-R have the center of the wheel sticking out). They just told us to drive it around until the guy comes in who does that stuff. He fixed all the wheels in about a day, and we were stuck with an old SE-R Sentra (not V-spec). Too bad we couldn't get the same service as you did...

Yes, I thought it would be good to post a positive dealer experience.

I think the service was more due to the dealership/service manager than Infiniti. In fact he said Infiniti is pretty tough when it comes to waranteeing cosmetic stuff after delivery, and would probably claim it was something somebody did to the wheel. So, the dealership may end up eating the cost of a replacement wheel, although I hope they don't have to.

Edit: What they may do is send the wheel out for refinishing-shouldn't cost them more than $125 or so. But I'm happy to have a replacement factory-finished wheel.
