Ordering G35 Sedan 6MT ... surprises!
Hi,
I've emailed a bunch of dealers in my area for quotes on a 2007 G35 Sedan 6MT Sport base model. After a couple of them realized that my car would have to be ordered in the exact color combination I wanted, they came back with surprisingly low quotes.
Dealer A quoted me $29,393 + TTL
Dealer B quoted me $29,193 + TTL !
These seem amazingly low on a custom built sport sedan. Maybe they know about some dealer incentives that will go into effect in the next 3-4 months?
Dealer B told me it would require a $2000 non-refundable deposit ... hmm that doesn't sound so good. I searched the threads here and found lots of people stating that non-refundable deposits aren't allowed, but I never see it backed up with any evidence.
What do you think about all this? Anything I should watch out for if I decide to go through with it?
Regards,
Dan

by special ordering, they save on the hidden fees like holdbacks and stuff. they don't have to waste money letting it sit on the lot. so you should get it somewhat cheaper.
but wait. that's really low. you're getting way below invoice. damn
where are you located?

I'm almost skeptical of those prices. How in hell can they feed their kids with those prices. Beats me. Definitely get the deposit payment in writing. Use a credit card to pay for it, in case you have any disputes later. It leaves a better paper trail, and you can take it up with your credit card provider. The second the dealer hears that you want to withdraw from your purchase, they'll nag you and get on their knees, so good luck getting your deposit back in that respect.
Oh, right, base model. Hehehe, my bad. I got the premium + nav, which will tack on another $3k to that price. Still, those are amazingly good deals!

I'm calling BS.
Invoice for 6sp Sport with no options, excluding delivery charge of $715 is $29,663.
So you're telling us the dealer is selling to you *below* invoice? Not possible.
The only way that I am aware of any dealer willing to sell below their cost is through the VPP program.
I purchased my 2007 Sedan at exactly 3.58% below dealer invoice because I have many friends that are Infiniti employees. (The discount is really easy to get, the certificates are given out by all employees and can be readily emailed).
Are you quoting VPP prices?
Otherwise, why in the world would a dealer sell you a car at a LOSS?

LOL....holdback is not a "hidden fee" that they save on. Holdback is what the dealer holds on the car even if they sell it at invoice. Factory ordering a car is not one bit benificial for the dealer to do as they would rather sell something that is instock anyday because they pay interest on cars that are in stock which is called floorplan. However that price is very low so you may want to make sure everything is in detailed writing.
