Well the key fob thing finally happened to me..
Well the key fob thing finally happened to me..
After traveling in Europe for ten days...17 hours flying from Barcelona to NY then to Ft.lauderdale...after having an altercation with the Air Marshall aboard my flight (looooonnngg story)..i finally got to my car in the parking garage only to find out the key fob had failed on me.. I cant explain how pissed off i was. But there is light to this problem. I walked up to my G and tried to open the trunk..didnt work..i went to the door didnt work..So i took out the Valet key opened my door got in tried to start it and nothing. So im thinking to my self ok WTF my cell phone is dead and im in the middle of an airport and its 11pm at night.
So just as im about to start heading to the terminals to catch a cab i got an idea
i put the key in the hole on the side of the steering wheel and wala magic my car started.
Worst thing about all of this was, while i was in Europe the thought had crossed my mind if my car was ok, or what if i get there and my key fob doesnt work. I thought about my G as if i left my child with a babysitter
And sure enuff i got to my car and it didnt work.....DAMMM SECRET

Yeah, it sounds like it was a battery issue, not a connectivity issue. From the other thread, if your car doesn't sync up with your fob, then it doesn't matter if the batteries are dead or not. The fact that you were able to start your car by putting it in the fob hole means your car still recognizes your fob.

To All,
I was at Infiniti of Pleasanton (CA) this weekend for my 7,500 mile service. While talking to the Service Rep, I noticed a bulletin posted in the office. It essentially stated that there was an issue with Infiniti (and I presume Nissan) Intelligent Keyfobs when they come in contact (or close proximity) to a cellular phone. Basically, the keyfob programming is erased or corrupted when it is within an inch of a cellular phone. Apparently the cell phone signal wreaks havoc with the keyfob programming.
It further stated that Nissan/Infiniti was going to replace all affected keyfobs at no cost to the owners sometime in the Fall of 2007. In the interim it warned not to place the keyfob in your pocket or purse with a cell phone. They must be kept separated at all times.
After reading it I asked the Service Rep to comment, and he verified that this indeed is a big problem.
Obviously, I cannot be certain, but it may be what is causing some of your problems with 'dead keyfobs'.
Regards,

That's because while your phone is on it uses up more battery trying to find service. Maybe you should shut it off like they tell you.
