It'd need to be fairly high to warrant the key swap, no?
Or maybe just a CYA move.

So they need to find a fix ASAP otherwise they will be replacing hundreds of thousands of keys instead of a couple thousand.

By the way, just cracked 8000km yesterday...wow, that took me 7 months!

I expect a quicker fix than 3-4 months for a serious issue like this.
Plus, you have to remember that Nissan/Infiniti is introducing the intelligent key across the entire model line now. (Even the Altima comes with it, what's the point in buying an Infiniti for thousands more??)
I wonder how many engineers are going to get fired over this one.
Even GM is able to get their keyless entry to work right...

Are you stacking your cell phone and intelligent key? If not, then don't get your panties in a bunch. The fact remains that Infiniti is aware of the severity of the situation and they're doing something to fix it.
#2. Sure, there's a little loss in exclusivity with the intelligent key being available with the Nissan model line. Who cares? It's a handy/nifty feature to have regardless of whether your car is a $15k Versa or a $60k M45 Sport. If you're griping about this, maybe you should have bought something else.
#3. 0 engineers are going to get fired over this one. Why? Because mistakes happen. It's the cost of doing business. Toyota makes mistakes all the time...the latest of which is the camshaft failures in the Tundra. Who's getting fired over that one? They've overtaken GM even with all of these mishaps.
#4. Keyless entry can be just a remote. You want a "keyless entry to work right?" Go buy a GM.
