Stillen Front License Plate Mount Review with Pictures
So what they do in my area according to nearby residents is that there is latitude to cite you directly or go easy and give you a "fix it" ticket (and a lighter fine). A "fix it" ticket requires you to go spend a vacation day proving you are in compliance. If you get more than one of those tickets, there's a pretty good argument that you're in contempt of the law. I park outside, so it's a virtual guaranteed ticket if I'm not in compliance.
The big steel threaded bar above is slotted for a crescent wrench so you can tighten and loosen it. It would be a 30 second proposition to pop the assembled plate on and off the car, depending on the rules in your area.
There's a larger issue for me. I don't like this particular law in my state, and I've signed petitions to try to have it removed, but as a resident, I obey the law. If the law said I had to drill the front bumper, I'd drill the front bumper. But it doesn't say that - I have the latitude to be creative and use a kit like this until saner attitudes prevail, at which time I'll take it off.
And maybe the pictures don't do it justice. I had a neighbor introduce himself while I was putting it on and ask where I had ordered the "Euro license plate kit" because he wanted one for his car. My own sense of aesthetics doesn't require rigid uniformity or mirror-matching between L & R. But then if I wanted a G like everyone else's, I would have bought grayish/silverish instead of whitish, just like lots of other folks.

nice write up! the ironic thing here is that your setup would STILL be illegal here in texas. that stillen frame would partially cover up the word "texas" on our plates, which my glorious state made illegal last year
(and yes, they're giving tickets for it)

It doesnt seem like it would be that hard to manufacture an offset in that bar to make the plate centered. It looks like the tow hook location is close enough to center that it would still be covered by a centered plate.
technically Gorn's plate in that pic still isn't legal. New Jersey and Garden State are supposed to be visible on your plate in NJ, no matter where you put the plate. We have some real gay rules here. Wish I didn't have to have a front plate at all.
I'm really not feeling it, it would look much better centred on the bumper. I just have to hope Alberta doesn't pass legislation to require front license plates like the cops want.

The off center look just doesn't work with the 07 G35 sedan. Ruins the appearance of the lower air dams I would just stick it in the center since the main goal is no drill holes.
