Yikes - the G dodges a bullet!

So my wife and I are coming back home tonight, and I'm heading to an ATM to get cash for the sitter. As we come up to the bank, I see traffic backed up so decide at the last second to take the first turn into the parking lot. Knowing the G can make the turn I hit the brakes medium-hard, flick the turn signal, and turn in.

Only to find that the Ford F250 4x4 that's waiting to pull out hasn't noticed that the little silver car decided to turn, and I'm seeing a big-*** grill heading RIGHT FOR MY WINDOW. Plus, she blocked me from making the turn, so I'm stuck - if I keep making the turn, I'll be turning into her, and I can't turn back out because of the curb.

AAAAAAHHHHH - lay on the horn, and I'm now so very thankful that Infiniti put a real horn in the G. Something like 120 decibels of deep unhappiness wakes up the other driver, she jams on the brakes, and manages to stop the beast with the bumper about 8 inches from my door.

Phew...she waved meekly as I drove by, and to be fair it wasn't entirely her fault - she didn't get much turn signal warning that I was turning that way. But I'm REALLY happy that my G is now sitting snug in the garage instead of some less happy alternatives.

Phew, that was a close call. Glad to hear no damage was done to your beloved G.

Good to hear the G escaped a date with a body shop. Lesson learned for everybody I guess.

HORN!!!
The G horn is MUCH BETTER than the one in my FX...
That horn was embarrassing for an SUVish size vehicle.

I know - earlier that evening the wife and I were talking about how much I love this car.

This is true, lol. The horn is pretty wimpy considering the vehicle.

I remember reading on another forum that someone complained to the dealer and said it was "a safety issue" that the horn wasn't loud enough and they swapped it out for something else... might not be worth the effort, but thought you'd like to know.

I was actually thinking for swapping it for a Hella horn. I don't even know if they make one for the application. It was just a thought. I don't think I'm going to change it. I've rarely had to lay on the horn, thank god.

Sorry for the partial thread hijack, G35Now! Glad to know that you and your G are safe and sound.

My friend once saw a ghetto Jeep in Berkeley that tooted its horn (many pedestrians in Berkeley that take their sweet time crossing the sweet). Instead of the usual sound, music came out of it instead: "Move, b!tch, get out the way! Get out the way! Get out the way!" (Ludacris)

nice 1.
I've seen some stories on people installing train horns - or semi horns and scaring the CR@P out of pedestrians.
Sorry again for the hijack!
