the fast idle thread
the fast idle thread
I can't find the thread that was talking about how high the new G's fast idle is when cold and how it stays there for a while, and I wanted to post a suggestion to those that haven't noticed this yet.
infiniti was wise enough to program the ECU to lower the idle quickly when you depress the brake pedal during the high idle mode. personally, i don't like to drive the car if the tappets are noisy. it takes about ten seconds or less for my tappets to pressurize and the valvetrain to quiet down on a cold motor. once that sound is gone, i'm willing to drive off gently. but the idle is usually still pretty high and i don't want to shock the torque converter unnecessarily. so... press the brake pedal and wait... watch the tach, it will drop considerably over the next few seconds. THEN you shift into drive or reverse and motor off!
kudos to infiniti for programming this smart "feature" in!!
