Do your brakes squeal when you first move your car?

I don't know enough brake systems and brake fluid ('cept changing it) to know if this is normal. This has happened to me at least 7 or 8 times now. I first start the car (6MT), let it warm up for about 30 seconds, then drive it off. As I'm nearing a stop (for example, the end of the drive way), I put pressure on the brakes -- very gradually (since I'm going like 5mph), and not all the way to a full stop. As the brake pads press against the rotors, I hear a squeeeeeeeeal, much like if your brake pads are worn and need to be replaced.

This happens only at the first press of the brakes. Once, it did happen a second time, but not subsequently. I assumed that the brakes just needed lubricate or fluid or something. The weird thing is, this happens even if I've driven my car for a while, stop at a store for 10 minutes, come out and start the car again.

Anyone else noticing a brake squeal? I haven't figured out while wheel(s) it's originating from.

my 05 started doing it after a while, i still had 8/32nds left on the pads but for some reason it still does it. I just let it go now. You could take them apart and lube up all the contact points to see if that helps.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it is the ABS check. I couldn't swear on that though.

I dont think that's what he's hearing, the ABS self check is more after you go over 5-10mph and its a sort of valve sound coming from the bottom of the car.

My 05 does the same thing... only the first time I press the brakes after it's been sitting for a few hours. After that, it stops.

This happened on my FX - and only once on my new G... might be the type of brake pad? or maybe after some hard braking and a build up of dust?

Odd, but if it were brake type you'd think it would happen all the time (?)

Well I said I was going out on a limb. I wasn't sure since I haven't noticed something by that description.

I think there's a bulletin on this - for the 05? It talks about the metal plate vibration??

Looks like it's for 02-03 and non Brembo
