Rust on Rotors

I have a lite rust starting to form on my rotors. Anyone else having this problem? I know WD-40 is not the answer.

Thats normal for the rotors to oxidize a bit. After you drive around the block it's good again.

Not a prob - you'll see that all of the cars at the dealer (that haven't recently been driven) have rust on the rotors. Completely normal, burns off after a couple of brake events.

So there's nothing you can spray on them?

Er...I wouldn't ever advise spraying ANYTHING on your rotors. FYI, washed my car yesterday, the rotors were showing rust about 30 minutes later. Think about it - the rotors are the rawest of raw metal, they're steel and get scraped clean every day, so they are absolutely going to be prone to rust.

I'm not sure if you were thinking of temporary materials like:

http://www.krown.com/

That you spray on when you put your car in storage and spray brake cleaner when you're ready to drive it...

or if you're considering Zinc or Cadmium rotor plating. Google that option if you really want to avoid rusting. However, it's an expensive option. Hope this helps

It's normal. Everytime it rains or I wash my car my rotors turn an orange/brownish color. After I drive around for a few minuntes they look normal again. Don't spray anything on the rotors just let them do their thing as ugly as they may look when this happens.
