Would you let the dealer
My Washi trims misaligned from the factory
Would you let the dealer open up the dashboard of your new car to fix a misaligned trims? This is a brand new 07 G35s. It only has about 500 miles on it right now. When I bought the car, I did not inspect it carefully or I would have never bought it. I mean come on, my 05 Lancer Evo holds up much better in terms of interiors. This car earned an F on its fit and finish.
I don't like the dealer guys to take off the dash of just to try to align the trimmings. You know, when things are opened up they will never be the same as original. I am a shame to drive my friends around with my first luxury car. What do you guys think I should do? BTW I just go the survey form from Infiniti today. They will hear about these problems from me.
Regarding the second picture. The trimmings are about 1/4 off each other. It looks like the dash is set a little higher on one side of the car then the other. I am losing my sleep over the second picture. I guess it's time to trade it in.

I don't think the car earns an F anywhere, and what you have is probably a car where the console was banged up by someone/something or that wasn't put together right (unlikely, but it could happen). You can't really say that the car doesn't hold up well if you picked it up like this, now can you?
I would complain, but as far as taking it apart I've taken mine apart 100 times and it looks just like it did when I picked it up at the dealer. If you know what they're doing -- and the guys in the service department "should" -- then there's no reason why you shouldn't let them fix that.
Now what you should do is be very particular about the rest of the car... taking the dash off is no small feat, so the reason why it's crooked could be some other issue that you haven't found yet... check all the switches, the little pocket in the center console, the glovebox alignment, etc etc. Documend and make sure that you catch everything and you inspect it all back when you go pick the car up.
As far as returning it, unless there's a specific arrangement where you can return the car over something like this, I doubt it would work. I've seen clauses for returning the car under various circumstances, but at 500 miles depending on how long it's been and because of a misaligned trim, I doubt they would take it. But good luck though.

on your second picture my car almost looks the same...i never thought it was a big deal to me and no one ever pointed it out so i can live with it. Regarding the first picture i dont know what to say it looks like the gray is different and someone put like silicone to seal it?
anyways if anyone is going to remove the dash and fix these for you it might as well be an Infiniti dealership. The only thing you can do is shop around to different dealerships until you find one that makes you feel most comfortable. I would probably go to the dealership i bought it from speak to the head honcho and let them know to put their best guy to fix your problems. I guess thats the most feasable solution other than getting rid of your new G.
Don't see why you would lose sleep over this...at least you don't have a nasty mark on the side of your front bumper like i do....worst part is..someone did it to me while i was parked on South Beach
Wow, looks like there's definitely something wrong with your dash - I don't have anything like this. Hmmm...seems like you should go in, explain your concerns to the service manager so he / she is aware, and let them have at it. Give them a shot before being concerned that they can't hack it.

I didnt really examine my car to well other than the usual walk around and gadget testing....the excitement must over power the fine eye lol

I have appointment come up on Monday, 06/11/07. I'll let you guys know what is going on.
(for the second pic) 1/4 inch off is way to much for this kind of car ($40K). My other car, a 1999 runner has much better fit and finish then this new G, even after 9 years.

as i said, let the dealer deal with it... if they mess it up, it's on them.
TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES FIRST.

Thanks for the advice. I will take many pictures and store them for record. I was hoping to keep the car for more than 10 years, but I doubt that will heppan.
