Oh no. I'm gonna be going to the dealership soon.

It's not a major problem but I guess it needs attention ASAP.

If you guys have seen the sides of the sunroof when the sunroof is just tilted open (pressing the sunroof button towards the front of the car), there are these things that look like paper fans we used to make when we were little. (At least I did. ) Well, last night, I had to make a 1 1/2 hour trip down to the OC for business matters. I got out of the car and when I tried to close the manual door, it didn't. Something got in the way so I couldn't close it. I turned on all the lights and put my hand there to see what's up only to find those "paper fan" things had fallen out of place. The right one is still there, it's just detatched from the sunroof itself. The left one, however, is gone.

I can't take any pics because I don't have a camera ATM, but if you guys want, I could take pics with my phone and show you. It sucks but you'll be able to see the problem?

Anyways, do you guys think it'll be covered by warranty? This is pretty much my first new car and my first time dealing with warranty stuff.

Yeah, I have to get both done.

One is completely gone and nowhere to be found... and the other one is just... hanging there.

Search - this is a known and well-discussed problem, and Infiniti has a bulletin out to dealers on how to fix. Yes, it should be covered under warranty, and my car is going in for this on Tuesday.

I had the same problem. I just reattached the side gaskets (paper fans) to the sunroof assembly and it has not recurred again. Easy fix, just snaps back in.

Obvisouly the missing one will be difficult to reattach, but try looking back into the roof to see if it slid back. Definitiely will be covered by warranty (at least it would be if I took it in

Also, am I not supposed to drive on the highway with the tilt open option?

I'm kinda hesitant now.

Known problem that has been discussed here before. Take it to the dealer, there is a TSB out for this.

Getting mine fixed next week for my 7500mi oil change. They lied to me the first time (3750mi) when they said, "Oh, don't worry, we already fixed it on all the cars. Yours included, even though you're from the first batch." Weeks after that, the left side fell off and hit my head. Then, the right side. I snap them in place manually, but they're still loose. If I leave the sliding screen open to let in some light, you can hear the annoying rattle of the loose pieces shaking and bouncing around -- eventually until they fall off.

I think the rubber sunroof boots are only there to cover up the rollers along the side of the sunroof to help "refinement" (whatever that is) of the vehicle. I took mine off when they came loose, they lie on the garage floor with the little rubber boot from around the oil filler neck that I removed because it looked like it could funnel dirt into the engine. Removal did not cause water leaks or increase noise. The wife's Pathfinder looks to have a similar sunroof mechanism, it had no rubber boots.

I don't miss them.
