left stranded

it happened to me my intellegent key stopped working, and yes my phone was right next to the keys.. when i put my key in the emergency slot it said key not pushed in far enough so i attempted to pull the key out and it was stuck and i mean really stuck, i called roadside service and they said they would get it towed, i replied i will call a friend get a ride to my house and get the spare key! well after a couple good tugs the key came out, i finally got home grocerys still good! but when i got home i tried the key in the slot again and it would not work and ended up getting stuck again! talk about a bitch i could not imagine if i were several miles from home. now im down to 1 not so intellegent key and the emergency start key slot does not work

The slot only works if the battery runs out, not if the key is bricked. Try it with the working key and you'll see.

And make sure you let Infiniti know about your mess... I would get a replacement even if it's one of the old keys. Better to have a spare now and get new keys in the fall than to run into a no-key situation when you really need it.

This is quite the thread. It was a cooked I-Key courtesy of keeping it next to a cell phone. Not a dead battery. Then he apparently put the fob into the dash slot, minus the mechanical key.

That's because the whole fob is supposed to go in the slot not the valet key thing. It wouldn't have mattered regardless because if it is erased the slot won't work - only if the battery is dead.
