Thinking of going from Coupe to New Sedan....?
I'm contemplating trading my 2004 coupe in for a 2007 sedan.
Obviously the G35 give you a lot of bang for your buck, which lead me to my first purchase back in 2004.
My question to people who have purchased the new sedan is the following:
What other cars were in your mind during decision time?
Did you consider purchasing anything that wasn't new, but pre-owned in order to get into something nicer for around that $40K price tag?
I'm also contemplating an SUV, Range Rover Sport to be exact, and have been finding several used ones in the $45K range(no pun intended).
Also thinking of possibly a 328/335i, A4......
Any other information will help.
Thanks in Advance!

if you're in colts neck, i'll come by with my new sedan and take you for a spin
I came from an SUV and wont go back to one any time soon. I looked at the 335, the A4, and used Gcoupes. I went with the G sedan for a lot of reasons. One was the price. Brand new it's $10k less than a comparable 335i or A4. I found the G interior bigger and more comfortable, and more aesthetically pleasing. Part of the turnoff of the 335 was that it was twin turbo from the factory and only on par with the naturally aspirated V6 in the G. The A4 was small inside to me, and the G is more powerful.
My dad has an A8L, and I've driven Audis in the past, and the G35X's AWD is better, I think, than the audi quattro AWD. The G cuts through snow. I never felt safer than in my G.
Hope this helps! Any more questions, PM me. Oh, and I bougth my car at Circle Infiniti, and not Ray Catena. Circle is awesome, and the service dept. is incredibly fast and thorough.

I came from an 06 g35 coupe and got into a new sedan and couldnt be happier.
My other choices were a 335i (that was my main choice really) an is350 which i wasnt crazy about, and losely a TL type S. It came down to the 335 and the G to me. I really wanst crazy about the beemers interior or exterior honestly. Its not bad but the G is much nicer to me. I test drove both cars and liked the G alot better. The 335i was def fast, but so is the G. There is more room in the interior of the G, you get more technology with the G, and if you buying you save about 10 grand. I leased the car and honestly the leases were pretty similar on both cars so price wasnt the issue for me.

I had an 05 coupe and now I have an 07 sedan AWD... and I must say that the sedan blows away the coupe in every manner. There is nothing about my old coupe that I miss or that can really even compare to the new sedan. Perhaps the G37 will be a different story since it will have the totally redesigned interior like the 07's and a new engine that puts out 330hp. The only reason I didn't go that route is because I live in Chicago and I learned my lesson driving the coupe in the snow already.
The 335i is certainly a great car as well but you are going to pay 10k more. It is slightly faster then the G35 sedan but not really worth the difference in price if you ask me. Plus, I'm just not a big fan of BMW. hehe
Audi? yuck! Slow, German, did I mention slow?
Anyhow, good luck.

Wow...You guys are quite convincing!
Well now that the verdict is obviously the G......next question..............
G35S or G35X?!?!??!
I'm in Jersey and get a handful of snowstorms throughout the winter.
Would snow tires on the G35S be sufficient?!
Is there any noticable performance difference between the two?!
Obviously the noticable visual difference is the bumper and rims...are the seats that much better in the "S"?!?!
Input?!

Well, the G35S has bigger breaks, paddle shifters, different rims (as you mentioned), spoiler and a few more adjustments to the seats. The only performance difference that I can really see would be the 6MT option, which does not come on the G35x.
The G35x obviously has the AWD option, which is quite advanced. The car will start off in AWD up to 30mph to give you traction and then switches to RWD. The AWD system constantly monitors your wheels and will adjust the power accordingly if they start to slip. Nothing compares to an AWD system in snow really. Snow tires will get you through a light snow storm (an inch or two) but you still have to take it easy. The AWD system will plow through snow.
I am not a big fan of the paddel shifters, the rims look pretty much the same (and you can always buy after market anyway), the spoiler is nice... but not really a deal breaker for me, and the seats in both models are quite comfortable.
After driving a RWD coupe in the snow, I chose not to go down that road again. That's why Infiniti makes the G35x. hehe

i had a coupe and had to deal with the snow on infinitis performance tires...i still went with an S.

really, you could probably get either. The Sport, from what I've read on here, handles itself ok in the snow. I don't have one, so I can't tell you from experience. The X is incredible, like I said before. This past winter wasn't too bad for us snow wise, but who knows about next year?
Performance wise, the only difference is in the weight of the car and how it launches. My track times are comparable to a Sport. I think I could run almost dead even with a sport, especially now that I know how to launch the car right.
You really can't go wrong with the X. The only thing I wish I had was the paddle shifters! Just because I like them.

if you put the car into "steptronic" mode, can you switch gears from the actual center console, like the first gen. sedan/coupe?
I haven't seen great pictures of this spoiler nor the paddle shifters...
Circle Infiniti is getting a visit form me tonight...
Gotta change out the OEM 19's for the original 18s that came with the coupe...
Get prepared to trade it in if need be!

1. Didn't have any other cars in mind. The IS was too small, and the 33X are way overpriced.
2. I don't think I'll ever own a used car as I like that fresh (on one else touched this car before) smell.
Plus, with a used car you never really know what you are stepping into...3. The Range Rover sport is a nice truck indeed. But it's really nothing to be compared to in the G's case - totally different vehicle with different characteristics. Another thing to bear in mind with regards to the Rover... That brand has been suffering from some reliability issues. I was looking for an SUV for the wife and was thinking of going for the LR3 when I found out about the horror stories from LR3 owners. I opted to go with that the MB ML350 - great truck.
4. A4 is nice... that is if you can afford the S4 or RS4 - otherwise, it's nothing special. The bimmers are nice cars but not that nice to shell out 50 grand on.
Hope it helps. The G sedan is an awesome car with no real competition at its price range. However, if you are aiming at a truck then it's a whole separate discussion.

What other cars were in your mind during decision time? Lexus IS350, Mitsu Lancer EVO IX (woo-hooo!!), BMW 335, Subaru WRX STi, Mustang GT vert, Dodge Charger SRT8, used BMW M3 vert. Narrowed it down on price, drove the stang and the Lancer (which was surprisingly nice, and drove like a really fast go-kart
), then drove a G coupe and the '07 sedan. Bought the sedan
Did you consider purchasing anything that wasn't new, but pre-owned in order to get into something nicer for around that $40K price tag? Above - M3 verts (found two).
I'm also contemplating an SUV, Range Rover Sport to be exact, and have been finding several used ones in the $45K range(no pun intended). Eh...look kinda cool, but slow plus small for an SUV.

, the interior is gorgeous (the recent awards it received speak for it), the price for what you get is simply unbeatable. With that in mind, you need to get the Sport/6MT to really experience its ultimate potential. That is not to say that the base/X model are any slower, but handling wise there is a difference in handling (tighter suspension, bigger wheels, low profile tires, etc.). My only regret with this car is not getting it in stick. The coupe was 6MT and I miss it. The paddle shifters are a nice feature but nowhere near as fun to drive a manual.
Hope it helps.
