Hey Gang,

Who purchased the extended warranty? Who's skipping it? and why?

Also the big question.... What mods will void the warranty???

I've had my G for 2 1/2 months now and I'm thinking about getting it.
I turned it down when I took delivery because my dealer in Warwick, RI wanted $2995.00 for the 7/100,000 warranty... with a $100- deductable.

I just found a dealer in Sacramento, CA who will sell me the 7/100,000 warranty with $0.00 deductable for $1,300.

If I don't get it, I'll need it.
If I use it even once for anything electronic, it'll most likely pay for itself.

This car is full of do-dads and gizmos...one of many reasons I love it so much.
But as my Mom always said (and was usually right), it's just more stuff to break.

I have 2 weeks to decide before the price starts to go up.
We only have 90 dys from purchase date before the price changes.

I'm skipping - drove three cars well past 100k miles without major problems (VW Jetta, Honda Accord and Maxima), and sold my last car at 65k miles. I currently expect to sell the G before the warranty runs out (hello G45 )

I bought it, 7 year 100k for $1500. If you sell the car before the warrenty is up, they refund you the difference anyhow. For me, it is worth the peace of mind. I also got the gap insurance. After totaling my last car I think the gap insurance is well worth it. They paid the difference that the insurance company didn't cover.

I live in Sacramento..which dealership made you that offer??

I didn't get the warranty either. I figure good maintenance and some luck should be enough.

I thought the warranty was transferable to the new owner.

I don't think you get anything back after you sell the car to a third party.

Hmm... I'm not sure about that, I don't think so. When I wrecked my 05 G35 coupe, I got $900 back off my extended warrenty. I was always told that you get a % of your warrenty back if you sell/trade your car before the extended warrenty is up.

I skipped it as I don't plan on keeping the car for more than 3.5-4 years.

I skipped it for many reasons.

I don't intend to keep it more than 4 years or 60K miles.
I believe its reliability is high.
I love to mod the car and every mod destroys warranty piece by piece
I can do most of the repair myself.

However, if they offer me about $1K for up to 7years/100K and refund me if I sell my car before expiration then I will get it.

I skipped it...

At the time I bought my G35S in December, the other cars my wife and I owned were:

'97 Maxima, 102k miles. Purchased used with 50k miles.
'95 240SX, 170k miles. Purchased new.

During the 222,000 miles we drove the Nissans, we performed routine oil changes and replaced 1 starter, plus the spark plugs in the 240SX were replaced ONCE.

Given our stellar experiences with Nissan reliability, I smiled, nodded, and refused everything the dealership offered (extended warranty, wheel/tire, pain protection, etc.)

BTW, since I got my G in December, we got my wife an '07 Murano and traded the 240SX, keeping the Max as a snow/airport car.

I would not worry at all about skipping the extended warrranty and still driving a Nissan/Infiniti until the wheels fall off.
