Post Voice Recognition Problems?

Hello All!
I am having some issues with the voice recognitiion. When I say "phone dial" it prompts for the number, no problem. When I speak the number, it consistently leaves off the last digit. I have tried raising my voice, speaking faster/slower, cursing at it (this seems to do nothing but make me feel better). Any suggestions? I went through the users procedure and relearned every command. I did not find where you teach it numbers though, just the commands. In the manual, it indicates you can teach the voice recognition via another method and calls those user profiles. Sit in the car with the Emergency Brake engaged, car running, and in park. Press and hold the talk button and the car will prompt you to say a bunch of phrases etc. I have not been able to get into this setup.
So the point is I need some help.
Thanks in advance.

Something I have noticed... It seems to me that my voice recognition is getting worse the more I use it. When I first got the car it never missed a single prompt... now it hardly gets anything right...

I believe the number learning is in the "settings" menu... If someone doesn't chime in before I go out to my car next I'll look it up for ya...

are you using all 10 numbers - 555-555-5555? If seems to require it, otherwise it will screw it up

I think it messes up depending on the last digit - in my case it is hard to get 2 or 8 in the end.

Solution ? simple -- just speak one extra digit after the last digit - say five or whatever it recognizes the best. Your phone would ignore the last digit anyway and you'll be happy -- no more cursing

Mine does the same ... the solution is to speak all 10 digits.

Yup, it takes all 10 digits!!

chrisbel & terrycs, you guys got it just right. I never thoght to include the area code. That is a lilte bit of a pain but at least it works now. As a matter of fact, using the area code, you can speak really fast and it will consistently recognize the numbers accurately. Nice! You guys rock.

There is a known issue with VR on Nav-equipped cars

When I got my G35S with Premium/Nav, I absolutely could not get the Phone Dial command to work properly. The car would recognize the "Phone Dial" but would never receive the phone number correctly. I tried xxx-xxxx, xxx-xxx-xxxx, x-xxx-xxx-xxxx, etc. Nothing worked...none of the folks at the dealership could get it to work either. Either a digit would be wrong, the last digit would be truncated, or the phone number 'heard' by the car would have little correlation with what I had spoken. BTW, I had tried speaking quickly and slowly, engine on, engine off, car outside, car inside, windows up, windows down, etc. All other commands not involving phone numbers would work fine, however. It turned out the only way to get the phone number to be recieved properly would be, for instance, to speak a 7-digit phone number one number at a time with a couple of second pause between digits; needless to say that is painful.

So I left my car at the dealership and had an M35 loaner...I linked my Blackberry to the car and the voice recognition and the Phone Dial command worked perfectly for me 100% of the time. I learned that Infiniti acknowledges a design issue with the "Bluetooth module" on Nav-equipped cars. A fix is in the works, but as of yet, I've not heard of a solution; note that I was on the record as having an issue in December.

I will post as soon as I learn more. In the meantime, please pose anything you might hear.

Note: aside from the VR issue, my G35s has been flawless during my first 6+ months of ownership! I just made it past break-in and ... WOW.

As I have posted in another tread, a fix has already been issued. Go to your dealer to have them apply a tech bulletin fix- ITB07015.
