Any cyclist, what bike rack setup?
#16
I just ordered a Saris Themla, the guys at the shop say it's lighter and has a built in stabilizer. Given that the hitch is only class I, the lighter the better. The only knock is that it doesn't come with built-in locks, but I have a super long cable I'll just loop through the tow hooks on the hitch.

Update: Well, $1700 later (no typo) + $400 saris cycleon pro rack, and i have the ultimate stealth hidden hitch setup for my 07G. I just couldn't do the curt hitch - wanted mine to be completely hidden.
Altered Atmosphere custom fabricated a plated bracket to the inside support beam of the rear bumper, as well as a removable hitch, and a pivot point adjustable tension support bracket. the thing is insane, and very well engineered. i will be field testing the setup two weeks from now when i'll be taking my road bike and the wife's up to niagara and canada for a cycling trip.
i'll be posting some pics soon, if others are interested, they could probably fabricate a small number of this product for much less that what i paid to support the R&D on this one - still will be a significantly more expensive than any other prefabbed hitch setup you'll see out there tho.

The hitch is strictly for my bike rack. Are there really no options out there for the coupes?
thanks,

I know, i've been terrible about posting pics. I'll see if i can't get a couple this weekend. I love the way it turned out. People from other forums have been asking to get a pic of a sunroofless G35S 6MT next to a sunroofless FX35 - I'll see what I can do.
I'm a little bike crazy too:
Fuji Team Carbon full Ultegra
Felt F80 upgraded, Tiagra/105/Ultegra Mix
Fuji Cross Comp Cyclocross
Vintage Olmo Steel Fixie
sh*tty Trek MB i don't ride
The Fujis and Felt sit on American Classics, the Olmo on proper Velocity Deep-V's. I'm friggin addicted.
But there's always room for more!!!
PS diggin the bianchi bro

Glad to see my fellow cyclist & G35ers!!!
I just bought my G two weeks ago & being that I am an avid cyclist (ride 1-3 times a week) I had to figure out a way to carry my bike around with me. Since a roof rack was out of the question and there is no way i am putting a strap-on rack on my G, I decided the only option was to install a hitch rack. So i had a receiver installed and purchased the Saris Thelma. I have never been happier! The Thelma only weighs 26 lbs. When there is no bike on it and it is folded in the upright position, you can't even see it in your rear view mirrors! It fits snuggly behind the car (out of the wind). Lately though, when i am not carrying my bike, i just pull it off & stick it in my trunk. It fits perfectly...does not slide around at all.
The weather here is pretty nasty right now (rain), but when it clears up, i will take some pictures and post them.

I'm a cyclist as well, 3-5 times a week 100+ miles. and I wish I could find a good bike rig for the G. right now I take off the front tire and put that in the trunk. Then I put the bike in the rear seats after wrapping a towel around the crank and chain. it fits fine, quite snug actually if you dip the rear tire to the floor.
here's a pic of my ride:

LOL, I love how your Bianchi perfectly matches the color of that chest behind it. Anything else in your house decorated to the Bianchi color scheme?
I've always been a roadie, but over the weekend I borrowed a buddies Klein mountain bike to try it. I had a blast, so.... yesterday I bought a Gary Fisher X-cal 29er mountain bike. This thing has 29" wheels (compared to regular 26" mtb wheels, and looks like it would roll over a bus! I'm excited to try it on some trails today after work. I'm not gonna tell my road bike about it though, I don't want it to get too jealous.
Here's a link to a pic of the new bike:

I had a guy at work hassle me today about the fact that I had a hitch installed on my car. Eh, I don't care. It is just a car after all, and it lets me transport my bikes easily and safely, and I don't have to mess with a trunk mounted solution.

My spare bedroom:
my bianchi fixed gear (I refuse to call them fixies) gave up the ghost so it got a new (old) frameset
look at these lugs!
I miss my Merckx
my custom Easton bike (still have it, repainted team colors)
man, how I wish the kids let me have time to ride/train again...
