moonroof leak

I notice my moonroof leaks when it rains really heavy, or if I'm using an automatic car wash (yeah yeah yeah, i know, i'm horrible ).

I get small drips landing on me whenever this happens. and when I feel around the seals, it's wet. I know some other people have had this occur also. Any luck getting the dealer to take care of this? Have they been able to fix this fully?

If it is easily reproducible, I would take it to the dealer and demand a fix. This can't be called "normal" by any means.
I mean even in a $10k car, I would think this is not acceptable (if they even come with a moon roof !!!) -- no way in hell in a near 40k car ... no way.

No - this is not normal - your seal is either cut or not in place or something is wrong. Go to the dealer

sorry for the rant -- this is not a minor annoyance issue - this is a big deal (in the same league as "my car came only with 3 tires" )

i know. it's something i plan on demanding they fix. I'm just hoping to hear from somebody who had this problem (i remember at least one or two people posting on here that they had this, but i can't find it in a search) that the dealer took care of it first visit

I got a good laugh from reading this thread.

It brought back memories of the thread by a poster who said his moonroof leaks also, but come to find out he likes to tilt/vent the sunroof even with light rain outside.

my 2007 does it, when i drive it through an automatic, touchless car wash (these are the best kind for not scratching your paint).

I usually just close the sunshade

Same here. Just experienced the same thing. I'll bring it up at the dealer when I go for my 1st service.

I wish you guys good luck.

My car is a December car, and it appears that the opening in the roof is slightly too big for the moonroof glass. The weatherstrip on the edge doesn't form a very tight seal. Mine leaks a little when it rains hard, too. Luckily most of it lands in the drip tray and goes out the drain tubes.

In order to fix this problem, they will either have to replace/reform the roof panel (yikes), or rip down the headliner and replace the moonroof assembly (still a wretched thought) Even after this work, you still may not have a fix.

That's me. I have NEVER heard of a car sucking water in through a vented sunroof. EVER. It has never happened in any of my previous cars or any car belonging to anyone i know. It defies the laws of physics.

That being said, my computer had to be replaced because it got wet and the car was trying to set cruise control speeds about 5 times a second.

The dealership couldn't find anything and wouldn't do a water test with the sunroof popped to vent, so the issue may still be there. We haven't had much rain since I last had the issue.

Mine leaks too. The dealer told me when it rains hard, the water is supposed to leak on the tray just below the seal, and then the water would drain out. He then says because the carwash is 1000 psi, the water hits the tray so hard and that is why the water sprays out. He said there is nothing he can do. All they did was document it.
I also asked him, how come the seal doesn't go over the roof to have a good seal. He says if it was like that, there would be wind noise.
