+1. And something about her teeth (no offense to all Brits), even though they're straight.

I'm not so sure I want to clay bar that bottom anymore.

Its rough!

Is this normal?

As other posters have said, it needs to be clayed. My experience was the same as yours - paint felt like glass when I first got the car. After several months, suddenly there were bits of grit and rough parts. Stripped the polish off, used the Zaino clay bar (time-consuming but easy), and was back to glass. Just follow the instructions, it's easy.

Note that my paint roughened up despite multiple coats of Zaino as soon as I bought the car, plus Z8 every time it's washed. Just the paint protection doesn't fix it.

Where are you located? If you can't buy them online from a distributer/retailer that ships overseas (I'm assuming you're not located in the US), go to your nearest children's toy store and pick up some children's clay, like Play Doh.

Or, go all out and make your own clay.

is it the same?

Not a special sort of clay?

I am in Dubai. They may have another name for it but nobody heard of clay detailing!

Just order it off the internet then. I suggest you read up on how to claybar before actually doing it. You might accidentally scratch your paint if you don't know what you're doing. For example, the claybar has to be wet when running it over the surface of your car. if you let it dry out while you are running it over the paint, the particles you pick up off your paint will leave scratch marks on the surface. So do yourself a favor and buy two bottles of meguiar's quick detailer when you order the clay bar. First wash your car, then peel off a small piece of clay and mold it into approximately 2"x1" and spray the piece with quick detailer and the area you are going to be running the clay bar over. It should glide across without much friction. If you feel some resistance, spray more quick detailer on the area. Keep repeating until the area feels smooth. If you EVER DROP THE CLAY BAR THROW IT AWAY! Just peel off another piece, it is not worth the scratches you will get from the crap you picked up off the floor.

Anyways, this is a quick overview of how to claybar the car. Anyone have any other suggestions please add.

It's actually really, really easy. Yes, there are some things you need to take into consideration, but anyone can do it... you don't have the a professional detailer.

As dataro said:

1) Keep the claybar lubed. If it starts to feel like it's sticking to the paint, lube more.
2) If you drop it, throw it away.
3) Make sure to wash your car FIRST before claybar.
4) Work in small sections
5) You can use soapy water as lube

There's not much else to it. Check out youtube... maguires has a video on there that will show you how to do it.

So easy... even a caveman can do it.
