What are you actually using to connect your Ipod?
What are you actually using to connect your Ipod?
Hey all.
I am currently using a cheapo headphone jack to rca cable to connect my IPod Mini to the center console AUX Input jacks, as well as my old Monster ICarPlay FM Tramsmitter plugged into the Dock Connector & center console 12v for charging purposes. This allows my IPod to keep charge, as well as stopping the play when I turn the car off (I didnt have this on a few times & the IPod ran dead while I was working).
This is a bit cumbersome. What is everyone else doing?
Thanks in advance.
Jesse

I have the Radio Shack RCA adapter, but haven't used it yet as I burned about 100 songs to CD's and loaded them in the Music Box which is fine for now. My other car has the iPod2car cable hardwired into the CD changer and that is pretty sweet since it charges the iPod too and the sound is pretty good. I doubt if I'll use the RCA cable in the G.
I use the Monster car cables; bought them from Target for $30-$40 I beleive. Keep it in my arm rest. Use the auidio cable. There is a little indent in the top left corner of your armrest that can hang the cable out. Have it set up to random scroll songs. love it. Really simple. Keep my lighter outlet for the radar detector.
I've got the SendStation PocketDock Line Out USB and I connect it to the G with a Monster stereo mini to RCA cable. The increase in sound quality is well worth the cost of the pocket dock.

.Otherwise, I use the belkin connector with built in amp and dock connector connected to the radioshack ground loop isolator. It's great. Do the other dock connector/line-out capable units require ground loop isolators or is it just the belkin?

The biggest thing is, since my collection is already ripped and sync'ed to my ipod it's hard to justify figuring out what CDs to drag out and rip to the music box. That plus 130Kbit/s sucks. I can hear the difference between 130Kbit/s CBR vs lame --preset standard on my home computer speakers and home stereo. Never actually ripped anything to the music box so no clue if the SoW is good enough for me to tell the difference between my rips and 130kbit.

Okay, seriously - I agree about the burning to CD thing. I've got all my old albums on the music box and listen to new stuff on my CF card - I just change them out when I want to listen to something else.
I guess I got a little off topic on this thread - oh well

I just plug an RCA cable into the audio inputs with a mini jack at the other end into the IPod. Is there something wrong with this? The music sounds great.
Also I bought a silicon skin for the Nano with a lanyard. I wear the IPod around my neck.
