Opinions on the New G
My previous vehicle was an '05 G35 Sedan with sport/premium/navigation.
I loved my '05 and the '07 is everything that the '05 is plus a lot more. The engine, transmission, INTERIOR MATERIALS, styling (subjective) are all better.
The only thing that I miss on my '05 is the reclining rear seat. Rear seat passengers loved that feature.

They are nice to have with the AT. I was on the fence between AT/MT and the auto w/paddles give you a little of both worlds. So I went AT.
Although I know the MT drivers would tell you otherwise...
Before i got my 07G35S i looked at pretty much everything there was on the market....3 series , e-class, IS, 5 series(actually had good deals on it) but all it took was 1 minute in that car without even driving it....GET IT...that car has literally everything you need and everything you dont need

It ain't Toyota of Honda quality
Bought in Nov 2006, here are the issues so far and the numbers in black are the official Infiniti Bulletins:
Build issues
Wiring harness replaced on seat heaters - ITB07-014
Air leak in rear window caused whistling - ITB07-004
Sun roof finisher came off - ITB07-001b
Chipped radiator grill - dealer will not replace, wait for TSB?
Gas cap tether broke off - ITB07-019
Voice tags randomly wiped - ITB07-015a
Keys die if placed next to phone - recall all owners keys, going on now ITB07-026
Buzzing from left side of instrument housing (it's not the glasses holder)
Buzzing from rear parcel shelf
Excessive creasing of leather - and yes I used leather conditioner from new
Rattle from exhaust when accelerating modestly
Door seal came off - ITB07-034
Sunroof seal issue - ITB07-032
Function issues
Heated seats are terrible. Takes too long to warm up - worthless. Very upset about this as it is my first car with heated seats.
CD Changer in trunk gets in the way, more than I thought it would.
The voice on the navigation sounds like a Commadore 64 PC from 1986 compared to the Lexus, Acura.......Sounded ok during the test drive - my fault for not noticing it.
Trunk beeps four times when opening it - not nice at 11 pm for my neighbors
Gas mileage. Yep, it's a 3.5 L. When the sticker said 19 & 26 I was hoping for around 22 on average. With summer blend, I'm lucky to get over 20 MPG. Winter blend is more like 17 MPG, and that is not racing it.
Acceleration is jerkey, they need to modify the code for the accelerator. Many people have complained about this, including journalits. Fixed in 2008 version? They fixed the same issue in the Toyota Camry.
Intelligent Cruise Control is very jerkey going down hill. It needs more damping in the code and using the engine more to slow down and not the brakes which is like a disco to anyone following you. I am concerned the brakes will be worn out soon as per ITB07-027.
Good points
0-60 in 5.4 secs Auto
Back up camera
Compact Flash Card for playing MP3s
Good room in the back for passengers
Nice interior
Disable VDC for some fun if you want
OK, I need some help on the good points here please.
For a car in this class, this is too much cr@p to be dealing with, especially as the dealer is 26 miles away. The constant stream of TSBs is very disturbing. The only plus? I get a loaner car at each oil change, because there is always at least one TSB that needs to be done taking more than 90 minutes.
OK. Go ahead and flame me!

no need to flame you had a very good write up. Its not ur fault you had all those TSB's i would be pissed as hell...actually i had about 5 of those TSB so i am pissed as hell. However my dealership has been very good in fixing them and also offered to fix things i didnt even know had a recall like my front grill. I am going in on monday to get my new weather strip installed on my driver door and install a new grill..
Ahhh so I guess its my turn. I'm 23 and figured that now that I'm graduated and have a nice paying job, it was finally time to enjoy the fruits of my labor. I upgraded from my old 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT which I had since high school (160,000 miles and the powertrain was bulletproof I must admit, great point A to point B car) to my current 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport, every option but 4WAS.
Other possible contenders were, 2007 BMW 335i and a 2007 Lexus IS350. Not every car is perfect, I can find things in a Bentley Flying Spur that I don't like (Bluetooth in it sucks, it will only work on a handful of phones) but you just have to decide if the pros outweigh the cons. So I guess I'll give my experience:
Lexus IS350:
IMO this was the most eye catching car of the bunch, it simultaneously had the most attractive exterior and the most dull interior of the bunch. This was a car for nice cruises, it had the speed but the ride didn't provoke any sort of spirited driving. Suspension was way too soft for my tastes. Plus the IS does not come available with XM Live Traffic Update, but you can get those ugly rear parking sensors if you so please. The IS was my least favorite car.
BMW 335i:
This was a nice car and an absolute blast to drive. This engine loved to rev and the amount of power was constant, gotta love the flat torque curve that you get when you employ two turbochargers. Despite its excellent handling and crisp steering, it did not come available with LSD and was by far the most expensive car of the bunch (approx $9,000 more). I also did not like the gauges (I think the red backlighting reminds me too much of my old Pontiac) and that damn iDrive. The interior is nice, its what I'd expect from a car in this segment. I just couldn't justify the price and the technology available was nice but not too user friendly.
Infiniti G35S:
I kinda had a gut feeling that this would be the car to get when I read magazine reviews for it. I test drove it, while the BMW can outrun and out manuever the G and the steering in the Bimmer felt better...its by an extremely small margin, certainly not enough to warrant the $9,000 premium. The exterior is downright stunning, it doesn't have the aggressive curves of the IS but when parked next to a 335i, it looks just as classy and both cars (sports versions) just look downright amazing. I liked the interior in the G better, the gauges and the overall glow of the center console at night is nice and warm. Navi was extremely easy to use, although that damn lock out feature drives me insane. My single biggest complaint is the lock out feature. At times it gets downright frustrating. The throttle took all of 10-20 minutes to get used to, but at WOT theres a little more NVH than I'd like, especially in comparison to the others. Exhaust note was the sportiest out of the three. The backup camera is awesome. Couple all this with the nice price and the fact that my dealer gave me free scheduled maintanence for 75,000 miles to compete with BMW...the G was a no brainer.

adam, sorry to hear about your issues. i think many of the issues have to do with your build date, ie, your car was one of the first off the line. later built cars will not have many of these issues.
i was really set on getting an e46 m3 for the longest time and didn't even consider a g35 until my cousin told me he picked up a '07 g35X. i test drove probably about 20 m3's and just couldn't find the "right" one. the first day I walked into the infiniti dealership, I knew I wanted a g35s. never looked back since.

Same thing for just about anything else..."Destination Nearby Fast Food", "Destination Nearby Shopping", "Destination Nearby Hilton", "Destination Nearby Chevron", are all among the over 150 valid voice commands.
As for my experiences, I love my G35S and have no complaints about it. However, I do have complaints about what it doesn't have, some of these are features that are pretty inexcusable to be lacking in its class as standard or optional:
*Doors that auto-lock after the car goes above a certain speed, and auto-unlock when the ignition is turned off.
*A power rear sunshade.
*Power folding sideview mirrors
*A yellow fuel light to warn you fuel is low (maybe I'm missing something here, and haven't gotten that low, but I just don't see it).
Also, fuel economy sucks to a ridiculous degree. I'm averaging 15.5 MPG, although it is about 80% city/20% highway.
